After providing a pilot program in Gyeongsan, it was expanded to the entire Gyeongbuk region.
60 terabytes of data can be analyzed in 5-minute increments

SK Telecom announced on the 23rd that it will provide 'Geovision', a big data-based real-time floating population analysis service, free of charge to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency to help respond to the spread of COVID-19.

On the 9th, SK Telecom provided a pilot project of Geovision-based local floating population data to Gyeongsan Police Station in Gyeongbuk Province to support pinpoint patrols. Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency decided to expand this application to the entire Gyeongbuk region.

Geovision is a big data and spatial data analysis service that is being used in various fields such as commercial area analysis and population statistics based on communication data between mobile phones and base stations.

SK Telecom analyzes up to 60 terabytes (TB) of data every five minutes through its self-developed big data analysis platform, GIRAF, and provides visualization results to customers.

In addition, by applying the 'pCell' technology that divides the communication radius of a base station into 10m units and manages it, it is possible to provide location information that is more than five times more precise than the existing 'cell ID positioning method'.

SK Telecom plans to continue providing Geovision services until the government officially declares the end of COVID-19, and is currently discussing ways to expand the service to all police stations nationwide with the National Police Agency.
