The digital transformation of a company is accomplished by building and operating a corporate digital platform that takes into account the company's unique characteristics, business, and processes. Currently, many domestic companies are pursuing IT modernization, and each company is experiencing different stages of cloud adoption.

“As the expansion into hybrid clouds accelerates, we must address challenges such as complexity due to distributed IT environments, increased security threats, lack of specialized personnel, and vendor dependency,” said Won Sung-sik, CEO. He also emphasized that “companies must build a standardized, secure, open digital platform that supports each company’s cloud IT environment.”

Next, President Won introduced IBM's 'Enterprise Digital Platform', which satisfies the diverse business needs of corporate customers and provides integrated visibility into IT services and resources in distributed environments such as on-premise, private, and public clouds. IBM provides various solutions in the form of cloud packs based on 'Red Hat OpenShift' to support the construction of corporate digital platforms.

IBM Enterprise Digital Platform consists of four platforms: ▲Applications ▲Data and AI ▲Integrated Cloud Management ▲Security. It provides integrated management, monitoring, and policy application functions based on understanding and high visibility of the company's cloud and traditional IT environments. It also supports openness, intelligence, and automation in cloud-based IT environments, such as cost optimization, real-time detection, and incident response automation from an enterprise-wide perspective.

At the meeting that day, IBM Korea introduced AfreecaTV and Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation as examples of domestic companies that promoted IT modernization based on the enterprise digital platform.

To strengthen its live broadcasting and VOD service capabilities, AfreecaTV introduced the 'IBM Elastic Storage System (IBM ESS) 3000' high-performance NVMe-based flash storage and the 'GL5S Storage Appliance' disk-based storage.

This simplified management points by changing the system used as distributed storage to a single global namespace-based management system. The combination of cutting-edge storage and high-performance parallel file systems also reduces concerns about service delays when user access surges.

Additionally, data can be easily replicated to a backup appliance without a separate disaster recovery solution, reducing concerns about system downtime due to natural disasters or cyberattacks.

As the number of local governments using local currency services increased, the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation converted its cloud data center, which was under consignment operation, to the 'IBM Blockchain Platform (IBP)'.

Through this, we are providing services such as a stable trust platform and local love gift certificates. The IBM Blockchain Platform, built by IBM Korea together with Yeonmu Technology, provides a stable cloud environment based on Red Hat OpenShift and ‘LinuxONE’.

It is easy to build a network and can be flexibly expanded to all environments, including on-premise, public, and hybrid clouds. This has enabled Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation to improve performance by about 4 to 5 times compared to the existing system and to manage and respond to failures more quickly.

President Won Sung-sik said, “IBM Korea will do its best to serve as a partner that provides solutions optimized for each company’s business environment through the enterprise digital platform and supports corporate customers’ successful cloud transformation journey ‘end-to-end.’”
