▲SK Telecom and POSTECH achieve mobile communication technology verification combining AI and antenna expansion technology with Anritsu MT8000A
Expected development and commercialization of next-generation communication technology
Anritsu's 'MT8000A' has successfully verified mobile communications technology combining SK Telecom and POSTECH's AI and antenna expansion technologies, and this is expected to accelerate the development and commercialization of next-generation communications technology.
Anritsu Corporation announced on the 28th that it recently conducted research and development to improve communication performance using AI-based antenna expansion technology in collaboration with SK Telecom (SKT) and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH).
This collaboration aims to innovate 5G-Advanced mobile communication systems as specified in 3GPP Release 18 and later versions.
This study, which employed Anritsu’s Wireless Communication Test Station MT8000A, verified mobile communications technology by combining AI and antenna expansion technology to resolve interference issues that occurred when increasing the number of antennas typically found on smartphones up to eight through real-time AI-based optimization.
In addition, by utilizing the MT8000A as a mobile communication base station simulator, it was confirmed that the data transmission speed was significantly improved while maintaining the size and frequency bandwidth of the smartphone.
The MT8000A complies with 3GPP test standards and supports a wide range of verifications, including RF measurements, protocol tests, and application tests for 5G mobile communication technologies.
It is designed based on a modular architecture and can be easily reconfigured to meet various test requirements.
Anritsu will continue to support next-generation network research and development utilizing 6G and AI, and will contribute to the advancement of advanced communications technology through innovative technology development.
The results of this research and development will be revealed as a demo video at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain from March 3 to 6, 2025.
