61 Newly Selected Companies for the Software High Growth Club 200 Business

The Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) announced on the 6th that they had newly selected 61 companies to participate in the Software High Growth Club 200 project.

The Software High Growth Club 200 is a project that discovers promising high-growth companies in the early stages of startups among software companies and high-growth companies (average annual employment or sales growth rate of 20% or more for 3 years) that aim to grow into global companies, and supports their continued growth through autonomous project budget support and expert advice.

The selected companies can receive support for up to two years, and the target companies for support in 2020 are 53 companies with excellent performance among the 60 companies selected in 2019 and 61 companies newly selected this time, for a total of 114 companies.

Last year, which was the first year of the project, companies that received support through the project achieved results such as a 28% increase in sales, attraction of 120.7 billion won in investment, and creation of 618 new jobs. Some companies even went on to be listed on KOSDAQ.

A total of 264 companies applied for the business announcement that was held from February 12 to March 12, showing a competition rate of over 4.3:1.br />
In order to select excellent companies, private sector experts working at startup incubation organizations and venture capitalists participated in the evaluation, and companies with high growth potential, innovation capacity, and global orientation were selected through written and presentation evaluations.

Among the 61 companies selected this time, AI and big data companies took up the largest proportion with 31 (51%), followed by content convergence companies with 8 (13%), VR and AR companies with 6 (10%), IoT companies with 4 (7%), security companies with 4 (7%), and cloud companies with 3 (5%).

If selected as one of the 200 Software High-Growth Clubs, prospective high-growth companies will be supported with up to KRW 100 million per year, and high-growth companies will be supported with up to KRW 300 million per year for up to two years to enable them to carry out tasks they have independently designed. In addition, support will be provided for close consulting by expert support groups, connection with large corporations and investors, mutual exchanges for cooperation between companies, participation in domestic and international exhibitions, and corporate promotion.

Among the 61 selected companies, 8 companies (preliminary high-quality companies) are expected to enter the global market.In the future, we will select 5 potential high-growth companies and 3 high-growth companies and provide additional support for technology development project costs of 150 million to 400 million won per year (150 million won for prospective high-growth companies and 400 million won for high-growth companies).
