Arc Embedded in Schneider SCADAPack 47xi Smart RTU
Nozomi Networks Inc., a leader in OT, IoT, and CPS security, has revolutionized industrial automation security with the launch of the world's first embedded security sensor in remote terminal units (RTUs).
Nozomi Networks recently announced that it has partnered with Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, to introduce the world's first security sensor embedded in a remote terminal unit (RTU).
Arc Embedded, launched through this collaboration, is embedded directly into Schneider's SCADAPack 47xi smart RTU, dramatically improving the security level of industrial automation equipment from the design stage.
Arc Embedded sits directly inside the RTU, providing security and operations teams with real-time visibility into the control device layer.
This enables threat analysis and detection of malicious activity within the RTU, which was previously impossible, and allows for enhanced security capabilities without system downtime. This improves operational resilience, uptime, cyber risk response, and regulatory compliance.
Looking at the main features, △Endpoint status provides software/hardware inventory, vulnerability information, and resource utilization of the RTU, and △Level 0 visibility extracts process variable data directly from the RTU without external polling. Additionally, △Threat and Anomaly Detection detects suspicious activities such as USB/SD card connection, time setting manipulation, and firmware changes.
“We are honored to have Arc Embedded in our RTUs, building on our eight-year partnership with Schneider,” said Andrea Carcano, Co-Founder and CPO of Nozomi Networks. “This collaboration is a significant step forward in strengthening the security of industrial control systems, especially remote assets.”
“With cyber threats to energy resources increasing worldwide, Schneider is working with Nozomi to build an effective defense,” said Jay Abdallah, vice president of cybersecurity solutions at Schneider Electric. “Arc Embedded transforms RTUs into secure assets, giving operators the ability to proactively respond.”
RTUs are key pieces of equipment that collect, process, and transmit sensor and actuator data from remote locations, such as rural pumping stations and mountain substations, enabling real-time control of industrial processes. Widely used in critical infrastructure sectors like oil and gas, the SCADAPack 47xi now boasts both security and efficiency with the addition of Arc Embedded.
Arc Embedded provides a fully integrated security layer from a single vendor, transforming existing industrial control systems into secure, design-based assets.
It is offered on a subscription-based model and is available through Schneider Electric, Nozomi Networks, and our global network of channel partners.
