Synology receives favorable reviews from consumers across all categories of data management, including security, cost-effectiveness, reliability, and ease of management.

Synology held a press conference at the Joseon Palace in Yeoksam-dong on the 23rd to commemorate its 25th anniversary this year, look back on its achievements to date, and share strategies and technologies needed for the future era of digital transformation.

“We started with the simple idea that hardware, software, and applications should be organically connected, and built the integrated ecosystem we have today,” said Joanne Weng, Director of Synology’s International Business Unit, who gave the opening remarks. “It has evolved into a platform that encompasses storage, data protection, video surveillance, collaboration, productivity, and even the cloud.”

Currently, Synology has over 14 million deployments worldwide, protecting 25 million endpoints and servers, and connecting and operating over 2 million cameras.

These achievements are recognized by Gartner as a key storage platform and enterprise backup platform in its "2025 Voice of the Customer" report. This led to listing as a representative vendor in the Storage Appliance Market Guide.

Synology's growth is also remarkable in the Korean market.

As of the first half of this year, the entire B2B lineup grew approximately 20% year-over-year, and sales of high-scalability models increased by over 60%. This is a result of the growing demand for high-capacity data backup and storage.

On the other hand, the IT environment is becoming increasingly complex, and threats are evolving from indiscriminate attacks to sophisticated and persistent attacks.

Accordingly, data protection is expanding beyond simple storage to include providing uninterrupted services and securing cyber resilience. At the same time, global regulatory standards such as GDPR and CCPA are also rising.

Director Joanne Wong pointed out that “in Korea, there is still a tendency to perceive security as a cost,” and that “security accounts for only 5.6% of IT investment by companies in the information and communications industry.”
