x86 server CPU utilization, full process control
It has been reported that TSMC has adopted AMD's EPYC CPU as the x86 server CPU that controls the semiconductor manufacturing process.
According to TSMC officials, each machine inside the factory must have one x86 server to control the operating speed and supply of water, electricity, gas or power consumption for machine automation, and AMD EPYC CPUs were adopted for these workloads.
TSMC has previously only used AMD EPYC CPUs as server CPUs for R&D.
AMD's 2nd generation AMD EPYC family supports 64 cores and 128 threads, a base clock of 2.6 GHz, a maximum boost clock of 3.3 GHz, and utilizes liquid cooling to provide excellent supercomputing performance.
