KT and Pixelscope are collaborating to provide viewers with rich sports content through business collaboration where AI automatically controls cameras and equipment connected to 5G and analyzes data.

KT announced on the 15th that it will pursue a 5G-based AI unmanned sports broadcasting business with Pixelscope, a company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) broadcasting solutions.

5G-based AI unmanned sports broadcasting is characterized by the ability for AI to automatically control cameras and equipment connected to 5G to transmit the optimal broadcast screen.

Compared to the existing sports broadcasting system, it is space and cost efficient as it simplifies essential equipment such as broadcasting vehicles and minimizes operating personnel.

In particular, it is possible to recognize and learn the movements of players and the ball and various match information using deep learning technology, and provide score calculation and referee decision information in real time.

In addition, cloud computing allows for the linking and analysis of sports data such as player records, ball speed, trajectory, and statistics, providing viewers with richer sports broadcast content.

Unlike the existing method of storing the recorded game footage on the on-site equipment, both the original and edited version are stored on an external cloud, which ensures stability. be high.

It also helps improve work efficiency as there is no need for separate backups on site.

KT and Pixelscope are applying a 5G-based AI unmanned sports broadcasting solution to the professional table tennis league and providing high-quality broadcasting through TV sports channels and YouTube.

The two companies plan to strengthen their cooperation so that it can be expanded to all sports that require broadcasting, including not only table tennis but also golf, soccer, baseball, volleyball, and basketball.

Kwon Ki-hwan, CEO of Pixelscope, said, “With our 5G-based AI unmanned sports broadcasting solution, we can introduce sports events that were previously unavailable due to limitations in personnel and location to more people,” adding, “We will continue to advance our solutions with KT so that more viewers can experience more of the joy of sports.”

Yoo Yong-gyu, head of KT Enterprise Strategy Division, said, “We will lead the DX (digital transformation) innovation in the broadcasting sector based on KT’s greatest competitive edge, 5G, AI, big data, and cloud capabilities,” adding, “We will strive to provide what broadcasters and viewers want in an agile and flexible manner.”
