'2025 Smart Manufacturing Status Report: Life Sciences Sector' Released

Life science manufacturers are accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart manufacturing technologies.

Rockwell Automation, Inc., a global leader in industrial automation and digital transformation, announced on the 26th its '2025 State of Smart Manufacturing Report: Life Sciences Industry Edition', which provides an overview of the life sciences industry.

This report is based on an in-depth survey of 143 key leaders in life sciences manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, EPCs and system integrators from 15 countries around the world.

According to the report, life science manufacturers are facing a complex mix of economic uncertainty, increased quality and regulatory compliance, and talent shortages, and are accelerating the adoption of AI-based smart manufacturing technologies in response.

95% of all respondents said they have already implemented or are evaluating smart technologies, and AI technologies in particular are playing a key role in improving quality (53%), improving operational efficiency (50%), and enhancing cybersecurity (48%).

In addition, investments in generative AI and causal AI are also actively underway.

36% of respondents plan to invest in this technology, and 35% plan to adopt digital twins and simulation tools. It was revealed that he was trying.

This shows that smart technology is moving beyond short-term innovation to become a core infrastructure for long-term growth.

Challenges to data utilization are also emerging.

Although most companies are accumulating massive amounts of data, only 46% of companies responded that they are actually using it effectively, calling for a systematic approach to strengthening data-based decision-making capabilities.

“AI is no longer just a trend; it’s a pivotal force driving a qualitative leap forward in the life sciences manufacturing environment,” said Matt Weaver, vice president of Rockwell Automation’s Life Sciences Industry Segment. “Digital investments are expanding to enable sustainable and flexible operating systems.”

This report is part of the 10th edition of the State of Smart Manufacturing report, jointly conducted by Rockwell Automation and Sapio Research, and comprehensively covers the current status and challenges of digital transformation in the life sciences industry.
