MCP server-based financial data and external agent connection

Snowflake, a global AI data cloud company, has launched 'Cortex AI for Financial Services,' a service specialized for the financial industry, laying the foundation for supporting safe and efficient AI adoption even in highly regulated industries.

On the 14th, Snowflake unveiled "Finance-Specific Cortex AI," which helps financial institutions securely leverage AI models, applications, and agents while adhering to strict security and compliance requirements. This enables automation of complex financial tasks such as market analysis, anomaly detection, and insurance claims management, accelerating insight generation.

The managed MCP Server (Model Context Protocol Server), which was released together, is available as a public preview and is designed to safely separate and utilize proprietary data and third-party data within the company. The MCP server connects with external platforms such as Antropic, CrewAI, and Salesforce AgentForce to support the construction of rich, context-based AI apps and agents.

The Cortex AI ecosystem, specialized in finance, offers access to not only structured data from major institutions like CB Insights, MSCI, Deutsche Börse, and Nasdaq eVestment, but also unstructured data from sources like FactSet, Investopedia, and the Washington Post, all through the Cortex Knowledge Extension. This allows financial firms to leverage high-quality data to enhance AI accuracy and insight quality.

Additionally, the "Data Science Agent" feature automates data cleansing and modeling for core tasks like risk modeling, trading analysis, and regulatory compliance, reducing development time. "Cortex AISQL" analyzes unstructured data like documents, audio, and images at scale, enabling end-to-end workflows for investment analysis, insurance underwriting, and customer service.

Business users can explore internal and external data and gain immediate insights through a natural language-based interface using Snowflake Intelligence. The MCP Server simplifies connections with external agents through standards-based interfaces and facilitates integration with existing systems.

With this launch, Snowflake aims to address the unique challenges of the financial industry—data fragmentation, regulatory compliance, and security requirements—and accelerate the adoption of AI-powered financial services.
