Cheonan-Asan Consortium Selected for Chungcheong Region Site, Responsible for Edge and On-Device AI Optimization
Nota, a company specializing in AI model lightweighting and optimization technology, will participate as a core technology company in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'AI Specialized Pilot City' project, worth 610.9 billion won. The AI Specialized Pilot City is a national project designed to overcome the limitations of data isolation in existing smart cities, where AI transforms urban data into knowledge assets and autonomously manages citizens' daily lives; it will be implemented over a five-year period from 2026 to 2030.

Nota announced on the 22nd that it will participate as a core technology company within the consortium, as the Cheonan-Asan consortium was selected as the final target site for the Chungcheong region in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's public competition project.

The Cheonan-Asan Consortium plans to demonstrate autonomous AI agent services in the fields of disaster, traffic, and civil complaints based on the Integrated Urban Intelligence Center and the Digital Twin Platform, while Nota is responsible for edge AI lightweighting and on-device AI application technologies to run AI services in the urban field on actual infrastructure.

Nota lightweights and optimizes AI models used in urban environments, such as traffic, safety, weather, disasters, and the environment, to suit various edge environments.

Here, by combining an LLM-based automated reporting system with on-device AI technology, AI [analyzes] the urban situation The plan is to implement a structure for recognition, summarization, and propagation.

The company explained that this enables the analysis of real-time urban data, such as CCTV, sensors, traffic data, and disaster information, close to the site, and converts it into data for use by control centers and response entities to support the establishment of a rapid recognition, judgment, and response system.

Nota stated that this project is significant as it represents a Sovereign AI-based urban service example combining domestic AI models, urban data, and edge execution technology.

The Cheonan-Asan Consortium establishes an AI system specialized for local data based on Upstage's Korean-specific language model, while Nota provides lightweighting and optimization technologies to enable the service to run on edge infrastructure and terminals in urban areas.

Nota has been advancing optimization technologies to run AI models in various hardware environments, including smartphones, automobiles, robots, and industrial equipment, and in this project, it is expanding this into the urban infrastructure sector.

In addition, the plan is to expand the secured city-level AI service models into domestic and international smart city, public safety, transportation, and disaster response sectors in the future.

Chae Myeong-su, CEO of Nota, stated, “An AI city is not simply a city that collects a lot of data, but a city where AI understands data generated on-site and connects it to necessary responses,” adding, “Based on AI model optimization and on-device AI technology, Nota will play a key role in establishing the Cheonan-Asan AI-specialized pilot city as a representative example of a K-AI city in Korea.”
