IP68 rated, 1.5 meters underwater for 30 minutes
Molex, a global leader in the electronics industry and connector innovator, has announced that its miniature wire-to-wire connectors meet the world's most stringent international standards for waterproofing and resistance to dust, sand and other contaminants.
Molex announced today that its Squba waterproof miniature connectors have achieved an IP68 rating.
This achievement enables Molex to meet the growing demand for miniature connectors suitable for a wide range of consumer devices, commercial vehicles, industrial automation, connected homes and space-constrained applications that require protection from extreme environmental conditions.
Molex's scuba connectors are rated IP68 for ingress protection as defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This means that the scuba connectors are not only dust and sand resistant, but can also operate at depths of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.
Molex Scuba 1.80mm pitch connectors feature a high current rating of 6.0A while using small gauge wire, providing excellent space and cost savings. This product is designed with a small pitch to save more space, and is available in 2 to 10 circuits and operates at high temperatures, expanding design versatility.
Molex scuba connectors are made of molded rubber plastic and include a robust cap to protect the seal from damage during shipping, handling, assembly, and use. These small, rugged scuba connectors are ideal for a variety of applications where connector size, resilience, and quality performance are critical and where they are used in humid, dusty environments.
