Maintaining user safety and providing reliable performance

Teledyne FLIR (Leedyne FLIR Korea Country Manager Haedong Lee) is launching an explosion-proof compact thermal imaging camera, which is expected to ensure user safety in hazardous work environments with the potential for explosion.

Teledyne FLIR today announced the launch of the FLIR Cx5, a new handheld thermal imaging camera for condition monitoring in hazardous work environments.

Thanks to the ATEX-compliant case, FLIR Cx5 users can safely monitor electrical or mechanical installations in hazardous, potentially explosive environments.

In potentially explosive environments such as oil and gas plants or chemical plants, all sources of ignition must be thoroughly controlled. Accordingly, electronic devices or equipment used in these potentially hazardous environments must comply with ATEX product regulations or similar regulations (UKEX, IECEx, etc.). With a resolution of up to 160 x 120 pixels, the FLIR Cx5 has a rugged housing that provides reliable performance while maintaining user safety.

“In hazardous environments, it’s critical that operators can quickly detect problems so they can take action,” said Michael Deruytter, Senior Director of Products at Teledyne FLIR. “The FLIR Cx5 is not only explosion-proof, but it’s also compact and easy to use. “This allows facility managers to keep cameras close at hand and quickly spot hidden problems, reducing diagnostic times,” he said.

The FLIR Cx5 camera is built to withstand the toughest tasks and harsh environments. The FLIR Cx5 case is shock-absorbing, the lens has a germanium window with an anti-reflective coating, and the 3.5-inch color display is protected by tempered glass and has touchscreen operation. The durable lanyard can also be removed for data storage or access to the charging port in safe environments.

The FLIR Cx5 features the FLIR Lepton® thermal imaging sensor and FLIR’s patented MSX® (Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging) technology, which adds visible details to thermal images. The visible details enhance the thermal images, allowing operators to find hidden problems faster and easier.

The FLIR Cx5 is also compatible with FLIR Ignite, a secure cloud storage solution that allows users to upload, edit, organize, and share their images directly. With FLIR Ignite, all images and footage are stored in one place, making it easy to share data with colleagues and create reports for clients. FLIR Thermal Studio software allows FLIR Cx5 users to fine-tune their images and create professional reports.

The FLIR Cx5 will be available for purchase starting in December, and pricing and availability can be found at authorized dealers.
