Excellent in detecting harmful gases, development of various smart home devices, etc.
Mouser Electronics, a global distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is introducing an innovative air quality sensor that helps develop a range of applications, including smart home devices and wearables, to detect hazardous gases.
Mouser recently announced that it is now stocking Bosch’s new BME690 air quality sensor.
This cutting-edge MEMS sensor integrates four functions – pressure, gas, humidity and temperature – into a single chip, delivering outstanding performance in hazardous gas detection.
It can detect a variety of gases, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs), and can also be useful for breath analysis and food waste reduction.
The BME690 air quality sensor is suitable for a wide range of applications including smart home devices, wearables, mobile and card-based devices.
It is also an improved version of the existing BME688 and BME680, and has been optimized to operate stably even in environments with high condensation.
Easy to operate with a plug-and-play design, the sensor offers advanced AI capabilities via Bosch Sensortec’s BME AI-Studio software tool, enabling developers to train the sensor for specific applications.
It also reduces power consumption by up to 50% compared to previous generation products, making it ideal for battery-powered applications. It is suitable and complies with WELL and RESET indoor air quality standards.
The Shuttle Board, which comes with the BME690 sensor, is also available from Mouser.
This board can be used with the Bosch Application Board 3.x to easily evaluate sensor signal output.
