Providing evaluation kits, SW, and technical data to developers
Equipped with abundant energy saving and system management functions
Nordic Semiconductor is expected to support optimized power management for non-rechargeable, small wireless IoT applications, enabling extended battery life of IoT devices or the development of products that use smaller batteries.
Nordic has formalized development support for its nPM2100 Power Management IC (PMIC).
To this end, Nordic plans to provide an nPM2100 evaluation kit, software, and technical documentation for developers.
Since its launch in January, early adopters of the nPM2100 are already developing a range of primary battery applications, from personal health monitoring devices to wireless industrial sensors.
Now all developers can take advantage of Nordic’s innovative PMICs to optimize power efficiency and system performance.
The nPM2100 features a rich set of energy-saving and system management features that effectively bridge the gap between basic voltage regulators and complete power management solutions commonly used in primary battery applications.
In particular, designers of small wireless IoT applications can use these features to extend battery life or use smaller batteries. This allows the product to be further miniaturized.
The nPM2100 features energy-saving features such as a 35 nA Ship Mode with multiple wake-up options, a sleep mode of less than 200 nA, and a 150 nA boost converter that provides up to 90.5% efficiency at 10 μA current draw and 95% at higher currents.
It also designs more stable products and provides a variety of features that improve the end-user experience.
The nPM2100 integrates all of these capabilities into an ultra-small 1.9mm x 1.9mm package, providing an unprecedented power management solution using only six external components.
Nordic's PMIC family, the nPM series, is a highly integrated solution that reduces system complexity, bill-of-material (BOM) and board space.
Developers can integrate the nPM2100 to optimize overall performance and system efficiency from battery to antenna.
In particular, the nPM2100 PMIC is designed to perfectly complement Nordic’s industry-leading low power wireless solutions, the nRF52, nRF53, and nRF54 Series SoCs, delivering outstanding power management performance for primary battery-powered IoT applications such as wearables, smart home devices, and industrial sensors.
