Memory cards used in vehicle black boxes and CCTVs have a short lifespan and must be replaced frequently when their capacity is full, which is inconvenient. Consumers have been waiting for products with improved performance that can solve these inconveniences.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 4th that it has released a new memory card product, 'PRO Endurance', with enhanced performance and durability.

The new product 'PRO Endurance' is optimized for devices that continuously record high-resolution 4K and full HD videos for long periods of time in indoor and outdoor environments, such as security cameras, black boxes, and body cams.

By applying enterprise-grade NAND with high data reliability, it has durability that allows continuous recording for 16 years (approximately 140,000 hours) for the 256GB product. The lifespan is approximately 33 times longer than that of general memory cards, reducing the inconvenience and replacement costs of frequently replacing memory cards when used in devices that record continuously, such as security cameras.

This new product has a '6-proof' protection function applied to maintain stable recording performance even in extreme external environments. It was explained that this provides protection against △water resistance (up to 72 hours in 1 meter deep seawater), △temperature changes (-25 degrees to +85 degrees), △magnetic fields, and △X-rays, as well as stability in environments with wear and △shock from drops.

Pro Endurance supports Class 10 speeds with sequential read and write speeds of 100MB/s and 40MB/s, respectively, and satisfies UHS (Ultra High Speed) Class U3 and Video Speed Class V30 for the 256GB/128GB product, enabling continuous shooting of Full HD and 4K high-resolution videos.

“As interest in security and safety has increased significantly, the market for high-performance memory cards that provide long-term, stable performance is expanding,” said Lee Kyu-young, managing director of the Brand Product Biz team at Samsung Electronics’ Memory Business Division. “Samsung Electronics’ Memory Card Pro Endurance will be the optimal solution for businesses and general consumers that require high-resolution video recording performance even in extreme environments.”

Pro Endurance will be released sequentially worldwide from May 3rd in four capacities: 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB, and provides a warranty period of up to 5 years for the 128GB and 256GB capacities.
