Home network linkage by apartment complex, device control, delivery, parking, etc.
The number of smart apartments that use Samsung Electronics' SmartThings-based home IoT solution has surpassed 100,000 households. This is the largest scale among domestic home appliance manufacturers.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 9th that since first applying SmartThings to Samsung C&T Raemian Leaders One in Seocho-gu, Seoul in November 2020, more than 100,000 households in 112 complexes nationwide have applied the SmartThings home IoT solution in just two years.
In addition, the company announced that it plans to additionally apply SmartThings to approximately 250,000 households in approximately 300 complexes that are scheduled for new occupancy, and that it plans to continue to expand its collaborative construction companies to take the lead in popularizing smart apartments.
Residents of households with SmartThings-based home IoT solutions can control home appliances through the SmartThings app, as well as various devices in the home such as lighting, air conditioners, ventilation devices, and electric blinds and curtains.
It is also convenient because it allows for integrated management of various convenience information related to apartment common facilities, such as elevator calls, gas valve status checks, parking information, absent visitor checks, unmanned delivery management, and management fee information.
In particular, it alleviates users' concerns about energy conservation through the SmartThings Energy service.
You can check the electricity usage and bill for the entire house, taking into account the progressive rate system, by linking the SmartThings app with the smart electricity meter in your apartment complex. Energy-saving automation can be implemented, such as switching home appliances to 'AI saving mode' depending on power usage or closing electric curtains during the day.
By receiving the previous day's electricity usage from the home network server of each apartment complex, accurate data can be checked without having to install a separate device in each household.
Samsung Electronics introduced its SmartThings Energy Service to POSCO E&C’s The Sharp Prestige in Namcheon, Busan, which began occupancy in October, and plans to actively expand it to apartments from other construction companies in the future so that more users can experience differentiated energy management solutions.
Park Chan-woo, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Home Appliances Business Division, said, “Samsung Electronics has opened the era of customized smart homes based on home appliances with various IoT functions and SmartThings that boasts excellent expandability,” adding, “We will continue to introduce differentiated smart home solutions so that consumers can enjoy not only home appliances but also overall apartment life more conveniently.”
