The scope of application and functions of smart home appliances are gradually expanding. Manufacturers are collaborating with technology companies to develop AIoT that provides optimal functionality and convenience tailored to the user's sleep state.

LG Electronics is partnering with A-Sleep, a sleep-tech company specializing in sleep diagnosis, to develop customized next-generation smart home appliances optimized for customers' sleep conditions.

LG Electronics signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for "research cooperation in the sleep field" at the LG Electronics Gasan R&D Campus in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, on the 23rd. It is reported that this agreement aims to provide a differentiated customer experience by combining LG Electronics' various innovative home appliances with A.Sleep's sleep diagnostic technology.

A-Sleep is a sleep tech company that uses AI technology to diagnose sleep stages through breathing sounds and provides various sleep services. This technology allows for the measurement of sleep stages in any environment, as long as there is a device equipped with a microphone, such as a smartphone, smart TV, or speaker. The advantage is the technology that can measure the customer's sleep state without wearing a separate device.

LG Electronics plans to research and develop various products and services incorporating A.Sleep's sleep diagnostic technology. The company aims to provide an enhanced customer experience through next-generation smart home appliances that automatically operate in optimal modes and offer customized services based on individual customers' sleep states and patterns, such as falling asleep, waking up, and resting.

It is reported that smart home appliances equipped with sleep technology will be able to perform sleep-related functions when the user is detected to have fallen asleep, such as the AeroFurniture table-type air purifier in the bedroom switching to sleep mode, the air conditioner setting the optimal temperature based on recent sleep records, and the Tromm washing machine automatically operating the 'Laundry Care After Shutdown' function if the user is sleeping after the washing is finished.

A-Sleep plans to participate in CES 2023 in Las Vegas, USA, and showcase a smart bedroom environment demo consisting of sleep diagnostic technology and LG Electronics' premium home appliances.
