LG Electronics and Kia Motors Collaborate to Unveil Concept Car with PBV Customized Space Solution
Evolution of living space beyond automobile transportation, combining leisure, rest, and office space
With the advancement of advanced technology, automobiles are changing from a simple means of transportation to a customized living space that reflects an individual's lifestyle. As the interior of a vehicle evolves into a personalized living space through the recent convergence of autonomous driving, electric vehicles, displays, and electrical technologies, a new paradigm is being presented in the automobile industry. The artificial intelligence (AI)-based mobility space solution recently developed in collaboration between LG Electronics and Kia symbolically demonstrates this change.
LG Electronics and Kia Motors also unveiled the 'Spielraum Studio' for mobile offices and the 'Spielraum Glow Cabin' PV5 concept car for car picnics, which use PBV customized space solutions, at the '2025 Seoul Mobility Show' held at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 3rd.
The 'Spiellaum Studio' and 'Spiellaum Glow Cabin' unveiled at this event attracted attention as specific examples of personalized mobility solutions.
'Spielaum Studio' is designed for solo entrepreneurs who need to work on the go.

Inside the vehicle, various AI-based home appliances such as stylers, smart mirrors, and coffee machines are installed to help drivers use their travel time more efficiently.
For example, it automatically sets the styler course according to the arrival time at the destination and optimizes the vehicle interior environment according to a pre-entered schedule.
'Spielaum Glowcabin' is a mobility vehicle for customers who enjoy leisure activities such as camping and picnics.

Equipped with various amenities such as a refrigerator, wine cellar, and microwave oven, it provides a comfortable environment like home even outdoors.
Through this, automobiles have become more than just a means of transportation; they have become a living space that combines leisure and relaxation.
These two concept cars will provide more advanced personalized services through linkage with LG Electronics' generative AI hub, 'LG ThinQ On'.
Passengers can easily control home appliances inside the vehicle through voice commands, and enjoy driving information and lifestyle convenience services simultaneously through natural conversations with ThinQ On.
For example, navigation settings, schedule management, meal preparation, etc. while moving can be easily resolved through communication with AI.
Kia said this collaboration is part of its strategy to define the essence of automobiles as a 'Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV)' and expand them beyond a simple means of transportation into a customized platform that encompasses customers' entire lives.
The 'PV5', the first dedicated PBV model unveiled by Kia, was created based on Hyundai Motor Group's electric vehicle-only platform, E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform).
PV5 is designed to allow the vehicle interior to be freely configured according to the customer's purpose and taste, and provides an optimal customized solution that combines software and hardware.
These customized structures are This was made possible through the ‘flexible body system’ that modularized major body parts such as the vehicle’s roof, doors, and tailgate.
This is a key technology that allows vehicles to be configured quickly and flexibly according to customers' diverse needs.
In addition, Kia presented various customized models such as 'Passenger' for passenger boarding, 'Cargo' for cargo transport, and WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) for the convenience of mobility for the disabled, thereby presenting the various possibilities of utilizing PBV.

As cars evolve into living spaces, display technology is also playing an important role.
Displays inside vehicles not only provide driving information and entertainment content, but also function as communication hubs that provide customized information according to the passengers' situations and needs.
Through this, automobiles are transforming into smart spaces closely linked to individuals' lifestyles.
LG Electronics HS Business Division President Ryu Jae-cheol emphasized, “Through AI technology, vehicles are evolving into spaces that empathize with customers, and in the future, AI solutions will expand not only to homes but also to all places where customers stay.”
Kia's domestic business division head, Vice President Jeong Won-jeong, also said, "This collaboration will be an opportunity to redefine mobility as a personalized living and working space. He emphasized innovation in the mobility industry, saying, “It is a thing.”
Such changes herald that in the future, automobiles will become more important than simply being a means of transportation, but as customized living spaces that reflect the lifestyles of individual users.
