What's Matter Inc., a company specializing in smart home integrated solutions (CEO Kim Hak-yong) has received recognition for its technological prowess through CSA Matter certification and is now embarking on a full-scale attack on the global smart home market.

WattsMatter announced on the 7th that it has received official 'Matter 1.4' certification from CSA (Connectivity Standards Alliance), a global smart home standards setting organization.

This certification was granted to WattsMatter's on-device AI edge controller software, and is drawing attention as the first case in Korea to receive certification for a Matter-based AI edge controller.

CSA's Matter certification is an international standard that ensures compatibility and connectivity between smart home devices, and can only be obtained after passing a rigorous technical review.

WattsMatter has expanded its certification lineup to include a variety of product groups, including smart curtain motors, blinds, lighting switches, inline modules, and hubs, as its software based on 'Matter Software Component 1.4' has passed CSA certification.

This certification is based on technology applied to the on-device AI Matter Hub developed through the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA)'s 'Intelligent Home Demonstration and Expansion Project', and includes intelligent control functions beyond simple device linkage.

WattsMatter's edge controller implements lightweight language models (SLMs) and vision models on-device, and by combining them with Matter's local control characteristics, it can control smart home devices and provide AI services without an internet connection.

This technology is considered highly competitive in the global market, which values security and privacy.

With CSA certification, Wattsmatter is pursuing a full-scale global expansion strategy.

Countries with rapidly growing smart home markets, such as Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt We are strengthening our partnerships with manufacturers and IoT service providers, and plan to sequentially supply certified products starting at the end of the year.

Additionally, WattsMatter is expanding its technology beyond Matter-based smart home software to include an energy and safety management platform.

We have already launched a PIR+mmWave radar-based occupancy sensor, and we plan to introduce various Matter-based sensors such as temperature and humidity, door opening, vibration detection, smoke, CO, and air quality sensors within this year.

“The Matter standard is establishing itself as a core technology in the global smart home market, and WattsMatter’s on-device AI edge controller provides an advanced user experience compared to existing hubs,” said WattsMatter CEO Hak-Yong Kim.

He continued, “CSA certification goes beyond simple technical certification; it signifies securing trust in the global market. Going forward, we will play a key role in the smart home and energy industries through collaborations with multinational companies.”
