Samsung Medison has thrown down the gauntlet to the global medical device market with a new product that offers diagnostic confidence, not just diagnostic assistance, through image quality innovation.


Samsung Medison has unveiled its new premium ultrasound diagnostic device, the 'R20', exclusively for radiology.

This product is based on a next-generation imaging platform developed independently, and is characterized by dramatically improved diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.

The R20 features '2nd generation software-defined beamforming' technology that overcomes the limitations of existing hardware.

This technology precisely controls the entire process from generating ultrasound signals to implementing images, and maximizes image quality by processing more signals without loss compared to hardware beamforming.

Upgrades are possible without hardware changes, so the system expandability and performance improvement speed are also excellent.

In particular, Samsung Medison has achieved both transmittance and resolution, which were previously difficult to achieve, through its second-generation beamforming technology with high computational capabilities.

This provides clear, unshaken images regardless of the patient's body type or complex diagnostic conditions, and AI A synergistic effect with the diagnostic assistance function is also expected.

The R20 also features ‘3rd Harmonic’ technology based on second-generation beamforming.

Maximizes image resolution and contrast by utilizing a more refined and refined third-order high-frequency signal than the existing second harmonic.

This has significantly improved diagnostic accuracy by making it possible to clearly express the boundaries of small structures that were difficult to distinguish using existing techniques, such as the pancreas and small bile ducts.

The R20 boasts outstanding image quality and significantly enhanced AI diagnostic assistance features.

MV-CEUS™, a contrast-enhanced ultrasound technology, vividly visualizes even low-velocity microcirculation, helping to precisely evaluate the vascular distribution of lesions.

Additionally, the Bowel Assist™ feature, which automates bowel wall thickness measurements, significantly improves diagnostic reproducibility and efficiency by reducing keystrokes by 74% when diagnosing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Samsung Medison will officially launch R20 at the 81st Korean Society of Radiology International Conference (KCR 2025), held at COEX in Seoul from September 24th to 27th.
