RTLS implementation without separate infrastructure, improving enterprise cost and complexity

Qorvo is expanding its market presence by unveiling technology that enables the deployment of Real-Time Location Services (RTLS) by combining Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology with enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure. A key feature is the ability to implement location services using existing infrastructure without the need for a separate dedicated system.
Qorvo announced on the 26th that it has unveiled a method to integrate UWB-based RTLS technology into enterprise Wi-Fi access points (EAPs). This enables the provision of precise location services without the need to build a separate location tracking infrastructure.
This technology combines UWB based on FiRa and omlox standards with existing Wi-Fi access points. Previously, a separate anchor network had to be installed to deploy RTLS, but Qorvo has eliminated this step and enabled the use of existing networks.
The company explained that this method can contribute to reducing infrastructure construction costs and system complexity.
Kobo stated that the technology can be utilized in various industrial environments, such as healthcare, logistics, mining, and automotive manufacturing. In particular, the scope of application was expanded by ensuring interoperability with existing systems.
They also explained that by adding location capabilities to enterprise access points, existing networks can be expanded into platforms that provide not only data connectivity but also location information services.
The new UWB module 'QPK3000' was presented as a key component of this technology. This module provides compatibility across various infrastructure environments and simplifies system development.
Kobo is pursuing the implementation of real-time location services as a core network function through this technology, and predicted that the use of location-based services will expand in enterprise environments in the future.
