Expanding growth in new application fields such as ESL, smart buildings, and AR/VR
Bluetooth SIG has released a market dashboard that provides data on global Bluetooth market growth. The dashboard forecasts that global Bluetooth device shipments will increase from approximately 6 billion units in 2026 to 8.1 billion units in 2030.
Bluetooth SIG, a non-profit organization that manages and oversees Bluetooth technology standards, unveiled the 'Bluetooth Market Dashboard' on the 9th, which provides Bluetooth device shipments, growth trends by application, and market outlooks. This dashboard is an interactive platform that expands upon the existing format of annual reports.
According to the dashboard, growth in Bluetooth device shipments is expected to be supported by major platform devices such as smartphones, PCs, and tablets, as well as the wireless audio and wearable markets. Bluetooth adoption is also expanding in new application areas, including smart home appliances, electronic price tags, enterprise asset tracking, healthcare monitoring devices, and automotive digital access systems.
The growth of electronic price indicators is expected to be prominent in the sub-market. Shipments of electronic price tags are projected to increase from 46.5 million units in 2026 to 175.7 million units in 2030, driven by the digital transformation of the distribution industry and the growing demand for real-time price management.
The commercial lighting, HVAC, and security sectors are also expected to grow with the proliferation of Bluetooth-based smart building systems. These sectors are projected to grow approximately threefold between 2026 and 2030.
AR/VR device shipments are projected to increase from 48.7 million units in 2026 to 147.9 million units in 2030. As the use of AR/VR expands in the fields of gaming, education and training, and collaboration, there is a growing demand for connectivity between headsets, controllers, and peripherals.
In terms of technology, Bluetooth LE Audio, Auracast Broadcast Audio, and Bluetooth Channel Sounding are cited as key growth factors. LE Audio and Auracast can be utilized for audio sharing and improving accessibility in public places, while Channel Sounding has potential for use in areas such as distance measurement between devices, location recognition, and secure access.
Bluetooth SIG provides data for more than 20 major application categories, including earbuds, PCs, tracking tags, lighting, continuous glucose monitors, and smartwatches, through its market dashboard. The industry anticipates that the trend will continue where Bluetooth is utilized as a connectivity infrastructure for industrial and commercial applications, moving beyond short-range wireless communication focused on consumer devices.
