Allowed business use of ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude
Samsung is expanding the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the operations of all its affiliates.
Samsung announced on the 9th that it is pursuing plans to apply AI to the overall operations of its affiliates. Accordingly, affiliates will be able to officially utilize external generative AI services such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude in their work this month.
The scope of application covers major business areas such as research and development (R&D), software, manufacturing, purchasing, logistics, marketing, sales, service, and management support. Samsung is establishing detailed operational standards tailored to the business characteristics of each affiliate and the utilization methods by job function.
Training for executives is also being conducted. Samsung plans to hold the 'AX Bootcamp' at the Hoam Hall of the Samsung Human Resources Development Institute in June for approximately 50 presidents from all affiliates. This marks the first time the group has conducted intensive AI training for its entire executive team.
Executive training will be conducted in sessions for approximately 2,300 participants until August 12. The training will be held as a three-day, two-night course at the Samsung Electronics Human Resources Development Center and the Samsung Human Resources Development Center Creative Hall. Samsung also plans to complete AI training for all employees by 2026.
This training program is structured around practical AI application exercises. During the training, the CEOs will present plans to apply AI to their respective companies' business processes and announce a joint AX vision.
Samsung is also establishing dedicated AI organizations within each affiliate. These organizations will be responsible for formulating AI utilization strategies, managing data and model operations, and fostering AI talent. The company also plans to build a security system to support the expanded use of external generative AI.
In his New Year’s address this year, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong said, “We must completely change our way of working and our organizational DNA,” adding, “We must integrate AI into every business value chain, from R&D to production, marketing, and support.”
A Samsung official stated, “‘The Great AI Transformation’ is the starting point for innovation to leap forward as an ‘AI Native company,’” adding, “We will preempt and lead the opportunities of the AI era.”
Samsung's latest plan is a measure to expand the use of AI, which had previously been concentrated in product and service areas, into internal business processes. With the increased adoption of generative AI, it appears that improvements in work efficiency and the establishment of security management systems will be required.
