Introduction of Industry-Specific AX Solutions and Infrastructure at 'Busan Cloud Day 2026'

KT has unveiled a strategy to develop Busan, a hub for maritime, port, and manufacturing industries, into an AI transformation (AX) hub city.

KT (CEO Park Yoon-young) announced on the 18th that it will share AX application strategies and case studies with corporate customers based in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions at 'Busan Cloud Day 2026' held at BEXCO in Busan.

This event is co-hosted by KT and the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA).

BIPA is a support organization for fostering the ICT and cloud industries under the Busan Metropolitan City, established in 2002.

The Bu-Ul-Gyeong region is densely populated with major industries, including marine, port, and logistics; shipbuilding, automobiles, and heavy industry; and large-scale industrial complexes.

KT explained that it has data centers and submarine cable landing station infrastructure in this region, including the Songjeong Global Hub Center, Gimhae Global Data Center, and PPP Daegu Center.

The Songjeong Global Hub Center is located adjacent to KT’s Busan International Telecommunications Center, the country’s largest landing station, and is structured to connect directly from Busan to overseas data centers without any separate transit.

KT stated that it can ensure service continuity even in the event of a disaster through a redundant infrastructure linking its Busan landing station with data centers in the metropolitan area.

Based on partnerships with Microsoft, Palantir, Databricks, and others, KT provides industry-specific AX solutionsIt is empty.

This event will introduce the cloud service 'Cloudflex', as well as an AI Agent-based business innovation system, a customer experience-centric Agentic AICC roadmap, and an industrial safety AX service that prevents safety accidents and serious injuries at industrial sites.

KT is also expanding its AX cooperation with local universities.

Currently, KREN provides educational computing network services to Busan National University of Education, Dong-A University, Pukyong National University, Korea Maritime University, etc., and earlier this year, together with Dong-A University, it operated a practical AI talent training program for working professionals.

Based on feedback from participating companies, BIPA plans to expand practical training by linking support programs for SME cloud adoption with the training of specialized personnel.

Kim Tae-yeol, President of BIPA, stated, “Marine, ports, and manufacturing are key pillars of the Bu-Ul-Gyeong industry, and the introduction of field-tailored AX technology is essential to maintain global competitiveness,” adding, “We will strengthen cooperation with private companies and related organizations to support the transition of Bu-Ul-Gyeong companies to AX.”

Seong Won-je, Head of KT’s Eastern Corporate Customer Division, said, “Busan holds significant meaning as an infrastructure hub where data originates,” adding, “We will support companies in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions in securing AX competitiveness based on KT’s infrastructure and solution know-how.”
