Gartner: “Agentic AI Reshapes SaaS Market… ‘SaaS Pocalypse’ Begins in Earnest”

Enterprise App Spending to Reach Approx. 362 Trillion Won by 2030, Under the Impact of Agentic Arbitrage
It is predicted that the way enterprise software (SaaS) is built, priced, and consumed will fundamentally change as AI agents bypass existing software interfaces to directly process business results. It is analyzed that the link between the number of users and revenue growth is weakening, and the competitive landscape centered on UX and UI is shifting its focus to performance-based value.

Gartner projected on the 2nd that due to the spread of agentic AI, enterprise application spending of up to $234 billion (approximately 362 trillion won) will be influenced by agentic arbitrage from now until 2030.

This accounts for approximately 20% of total enterprise SaaS spending in 2030.

Gartner defined this change as the 'Saaspocalypse,' signifying the fragmentation of the existing SaaS market.

“Agentic systems are weakening the link between user growth and revenue growth by bypassing existing user experience-centric applications and delivering results directly,” said George Brocklehurst, VP Analyst at Gartner.

He stated, “This is a transformation, not an end,” adding that SaaS would evolve into a different form rather than disappear.

Gartner analysts assessed that corporate buyers' expectations are also changing.

Vice President Brocklehurst stated, “Simply adding AI capabilities often leads to increased costs rather than improved performance,” adding, “To achieve better results, a system is needed that can continuously maintain a company’s accumulated knowledge and customer context.”

It was reported that agentic solutions equipped with autonomous end-to-end workflows, inter-system orchestration, and customer context accumulation capabilities can contribute to improved return on investment (ROI).

Gartner suggests that for existing software vendors to maintain competitiveness, they must transition from interface-based value to performance-based value and...It suggested that integrating tick functions into its products strengthens its position within the value chain and that it is necessary to acquire and maintain customer-specific knowledge beyond simple data.

"Brocklehurst analysts said, 'While the survival of vendors sticking to dashboard and user-count-based models is threatened, significant revenue generation opportunities open up for vendors with agentic capabilities that support cross-domain workflows.'"

AI-based startups and service providers are expected to play the role of an 'agentic layer' across enterprise systems, absorbing not only existing expenditures but also additional budget secured through improved ROI.
