Performance is strong despite rising raw material prices and COVID-19
Korea Mathison Specialty Gas achieved good results in 2020 despite rising raw material prices and a decrease in orders due to COVID-19.
Korea Mathison Special Gas announced its 2020 business performance on the 24th.
Accordingly, sales decreased by 3% year-on-year to KRW 111.1 billion, and operating profit decreased by 27% year-on-year to KRW 10.5 billion. Net income was 8.9 billion won, a 17% decrease from the previous year.
The decline in performance in 2020 is estimated to be due to rising raw material prices and a decrease in customer orders due to COVID-19.
This year, Korea Mathison Special Gas is expected to recover from last year's poor performance and achieve growth.
As semiconductor operating rates increase, sales of related products are expected to increase, and in particular, demand for diborane, a major sales product, is expected to surge due to supply and demand imbalances early this year.
In the case of Diborane, production and supply failed to keep up with demand early this year, causing a supply shortage, and Korea Methyson Special Gas also maintained tight production volumes.
Accordingly, it is reported that Korea Mathison Special Gas will invest 11 billion won to expand Diborane by next year.
Meanwhile, Korea Methyson Specialty Gas is a specialized company that produces, refines, and supplies special gases for semiconductors and displays. It produces and supplies special gases essential to semiconductor production lines, such as CH3F (fluoromethane), B2H6 (diborane), BCl3 (boron trichloride), HBr (hydrogen bromide), and Cl₂ (chlorine).
