The Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS, President Choi Cheol-jin) is strengthening its role as a hub for materials research and development as it celebrates its 18th anniversary.
On the 21st, the Korea Materials Research Institute held its '18th Founding Anniversary Ceremony' in the auditorium of the main building of the Korea Materials Research Institute in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do.
At the event, individuals and organizations that demonstrated excellent research activities and work capabilities were awarded the National Research Council for Science and Technology Chairman's Award and the Korea Institute of Materials Science President's Award.
The National Research Council of Science and Technology Chairman's Award was presented to Choi Jin, Senior Researcher at the Nanomaterials Research Division, and Choi Eun-ae, Senior Researcher at the Extreme Materials Research Institute, and the Energy and Environmental Materials Research Division was awarded the Excellence in Research Award.
In addition, the Academic Award was given to Senior Researcher Seph Kayani of the Mobility Metal Research Center of the Lightweight Materials Research Division and Student Researcher Ryu Seung-hee of the Nanomaterials Research Division, and the KIMS Talent Award was given to Senior Researcher Park Hyeong-gwon of the Extreme Materials Research Institute and Technician Yoon Geon-yeong of the Materials Analysis Center of the Materials Data and Analysis Research Division.
In addition to this, a total of 4 teams and 22 people were selected as award recipients at the ceremony that day.
At the ceremony that day, Materials Research Institute also announced its thirteenth world-class technology.
This is the 'multi-band electromagnetic wave absorption and shielding composite material technology' of Dr. Lee Sang-bok's research team at the Center for Convergence and Composite Materials.
This technology is one It is a composite material technology in the form of an ultra-thin film that can simultaneously absorb over 99% of communication electromagnetic waves of various frequency bands.
In his commemorative speech that day, Choi Chul-jin, the president of the Materials Research Institute, emphasized, “It is difficult for a country to survive without its own technology,” and “At times like these, the Materials Research Institute must play the role of a hub and leader in materials research and development to strengthen national competitiveness.”
He also said, “We must expand the virtuous cycle in which the results of research and development can be applied to industry and foster a challenging research culture.”
