LG Innotek is accelerating its strategy of diversifying its optical production sites and is actively recruiting local R&D talent to coincide with the launch of its new plant in Haiphong, Vietnam.

LG Innotek announced on the 1st that it held the first 'OPTECHCON (Optics Tech Conference)', an event to invite talents in the optical R&D field, at its production plant in Hai Phong, Vietnam.

This event is a stepping stone to strengthening the optical solutions business capabilities in line with the operation of the new plant in Vietnam and to accelerate the strategy of dualizing production locations.

'OptecCon' is an annual event for optical R&D talent that LG Innotek has held since 2023, and this is the first time it has been held at an overseas subsidiary. Approximately 80 science and engineering talents and professors from major universities in the central and northern regions, including Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Da Nang University, and Hue University, attended the event, which included technology lectures, experiences of organizational culture, and research center tours.

Executives, including CTO Noh Seung-won and CHO Lee Dong-hoon, attended the event and introduced LG Innotek's optical technology competitiveness and global vision. Case studies of projects led by local engineers were also shared, fostering stronger communication with attendees. Professor Emeritus Park Seung-han of Yonsei University (former President of the Optical Society of Korea) delivered a special lecture on the future prospects of optical technology.

LG Innotek recently completed construction of a new 150,000-square-meter V3 plant in Hai Phong and began full-scale operations. Production capacity has more than doubled, and the company is pursuing a strategy to internalize all processes, from product development to production, in Vietnam. This will ensure cost competitiveness and supply stability for its optical solutions business.

CHO Lee Dong-hoon stated, “Starting with Vietnam, we will expand our localized recruitment program to other overseas subsidiaries,” and added, “Through innovative recruitment activities to secure excellent talent, we will strengthen LG Innotek’s global competitiveness and continue to create differentiated customer value.”
