National Instruments Korea (NI Korea) appointed Jung Koo-hwan as its new president and presented a blueprint to strengthen its software-defined instrumentation strategy and accelerate automation test innovation in the semiconductor, defense, and mobility sectors.


NI Korea released a press release on the 5th announcing the appointment of new president Jeong Gu-hwan.

President Jeong is a figure who has led sales and business expansion in the global measurement instrument industry for a long time, serving key clients.

Domestically as well, it demonstrated performance-oriented leadership by expanding business with major industry clients, including key global semiconductor accounts.

With his inauguration, NI Korea plans to pursue aggressive marketing and partner collaborations with the goal of achieving double-digit growth annually.

President Jeong stated, “In a rapidly changing industrial environment, testing must possess both speed and reliability,” adding, “NI Korea will accelerate innovation in key national industries, including semiconductors, defense, and mobility, by connecting customers’ entire processes of development, verification, and mass production through a software-centric measurement ecosystem.”

NI Korea goes beyond simple hardware competition We are focusing on building a measurement ecosystem that combines software, data, and AI to simultaneously achieve time reduction and quality improvement throughout the entire customer process of development, verification, and mass production.

In particular, test automation and data-driven decision-making are emerging as key competitive factors in increasingly complex semiconductor processes, defense system verification, and mobility sectors such as electrification, ADAS, and SDV.

In July of this year, NI Korea applied NI Nigel AI Advisor to LabVIEW and TestStand. Nigel is an AI advisor that shortens design and implementation time by providing code writing, analysis, and guidance when developers ask questions in natural language. The goal is to reduce repetitive tasks and promote test standardization, and there are plans to expand AI capabilities across major software in the future to enhance engineer productivity and test quality.

Furthermore, NI Korea is advancing its SystemLink-based data-centric test framework. The strategy involves connecting and managing distributed instruments, test systems, and data to enhance traceability and audit response, while detecting anomalies early to reduce the spread of defects and retesting costs. President Jeong emphasized, "We will create an environment where customers can better utilize their data."

NI Korea is strengthening the foundation for cultivating test talent needed in the AI era by signing MOUs with major domestic universities, including Seoul National University, Chungnam National University, and UNIST, and expanding support for LabVIEW school licenses. This aligns with a strategy to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of key national industries by creating an education and research ecosystem linked to actual workflows in the industrial field.
