With the era of 'Physical AI,' where artificial intelligence operates in physical environments beyond the digital realm, rapidly approaching, the government has unveiled a mid-to-long-term strategy to secure technological leadership in this field.

On the 1st, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced the "Strategy for Securing Core Competitiveness in Physical Artificial Intelligence (Physical AI)."

It is reported to contain a cross-ministerial response direction aimed at boosting national competitiveness in physical AI application fields such as robots, autonomous driving, and drones.

Physical AI is a general term for technologies in which trained AI models interact with the physical world through sensors, actuators, and the like.

Autonomous vehicles, collaborative robots, and logistics automation systems are cited as representative application areas.

This strategy is reportedly composed of key pillars, including expanding investment in core technology research and development, establishing a foundation for data and infrastructure, fostering skilled personnel, and strengthening global cooperation.

The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to strengthen the industry-academia-research cooperation system to establish a structure where the results of basic research are connected to industrial sites.
