Access control for the execution phase of PLC and RTU equipment control… Laying the groundwork for entry into the European OT market
Amid tightening industrial cybersecurity regulations in Europe, a domestic certified security company is setting out to target the global market by obtaining KC and CE certifications for a security solution dedicated to OT endpoints.

Sensestone announced on the 2nd that its OT security solution 'OTAC Trusted Access Gateway (TAG)', jointly developed with MX On, has obtained KC and CE certifications.

TAG is a product that combines Sensestone's one-way dynamic authentication technology, OTAC (One-Time Authentication Code), with MX On's industrial hardware, providing user authentication and access control functions at the time when equipment control is executed at OT endpoints such as PLCs and RTUs.

Unlike existing network perimeter security, TAG is designed with a structure that blocks access during the execution phase when the actual program is modified.

It supports access control for external maintenance personnel and partner companies, prevention of account sharing, and blocking of unauthorized access, and can be applied without changing the existing operating environment.
It is reported that it can be operated even in industrial sites with network constraints.

CE certification is a mandatory requirement for product distribution within Europe, manufacturing andIn the energy and infrastructure sectors, it has a direct impact on whether or not it is introduced.

Europe is currently raising industrial infrastructure security standards, centered on NIS2 (Network and Information Systems Directive 2) and CRA (Cyber Resilience Act), and there is a trend emphasizing certification-based requirements such as user verification, access history management, and traceability before equipment control execution.

Yoo Chang-hoon, CEO of Sensestone, stated, “Actual attacks are carried out by directly accessing facilities through legitimate accounts and modifying programs,” adding, “The key is to verify users before facility control to control access during the execution phase.”

He added, “This KC·CE certification establishes the conditions to expand the application of OT endpoint access control technology to the global industrial environment.”

Based on this certification, Sensestone plans to expand the supply of TAGs in global industrial markets, including Europe.
