LG Uplus announced on the 21st that it will launch a 5G enterprise-only network service. The 5G enterprise-only network is a dedicated network service that provides communication data for industrial devices and business terminals quickly and safely.

An LG U+ official explained, “The advantages include communication speed and stability, service coverage flexibility, security based on traffic encryption, and reduced data costs.”

The 5G enterprise-only network has higher data transmission speed and success rate than general 5G commercial networks, enabling stable service use. It is suitable for industries that require precise operations, such as port crane operation or mine removal excavator operation. In addition, it encrypts various sensor data generated during the field and manufacturing process and collects them in real time to support smart factory implementation, such as automatic inspection of defective products.

There are also various options for how communication services are provided. Depending on the business environment, data can be used within a designated building or a certain area, and a specific terminal can be used nationwide without any location restrictions. You can use communication services at chain stores across the country, or use terminals such as tablets while moving to other locations, such as logistics, sales, and consulting sites.

It is also suitable for transmitting information from companies or workplaces due to its high level of security. It uses servers and switches that are physically separated from the general 5G commercial network, and transmits all traffic with encryption (Ciphering). In this closed 5G network, only pre-approved terminals are allowed to access, so it is possible to process data that requires security, such as process data, medical charts, and electronic subscriptions.

An official also stated that there is a 50% data cost reduction effect compared to wired networks. The 5G corporate-only network can reduce the construction, maintenance, and repair costs that are incurred when using Wi-Fi or Internet networks. Since nationwide service is possible, there are no additional communication network construction costs even if new businesses or stores are created. Since corporate customers can share and use data from each business and terminal within the total amount of data contracted, they can also achieve the price reduction effect similar to family bonding.

Seo Jae-yong, managing director of LG Uplus Convergence Business Division, said, “Last year, we demonstrated 5G enterprise-only networks in various industrial fields, including Doosan Infracore, Busan Port Authority, and LG affiliates.”

Meanwhile, LG Uplus announced earlier this month that it would build a 5G-based smart power plant solution with GS EPS. The two companies plan to conduct a smart power plant demonstration from the second half of the year through ▲IoT-based facility diagnostic solutions and ▲autonomous driving robots that transport parts between warehouses and power plants.
