“Companies that do not have a positive impact on the environment will not be able to survive.”

As interest in ESG management continues to grow, Ecolab Korea, an ESG management support company, has begun full-scale expansion into the Korean market.

Ecolab Korea held its first meeting on the 6th to mark the 35th anniversary of its establishment as a domestic corporation, and presented 'TIME' as a growth strategy keyword in the domestic market, and provided an opportunity to introduce its main businesses and share its future vision strategy.

Ecolab Korea CEO Ryu Yang-kwon said, “ESG management has become a hot topic in the Korean market, so we have decided to begin full-scale expansion,” and “The Korean market is evaluated as having high growth potential as it possesses growth engines for batteries, bio, and semiconductors, and double-digit growth is expected in the future.” Presented.

In the announcement that day, CEO Ryu said, "The Korean market accounts for about 2% (KRW 220 billion) of the global sales of KRW 15 trillion, and the importance of the Korean market is increasing."

CEO Ryu introduced the following products and services as Ecolab Korea’s main businesses: △water shortage problem (solutions to increase water management efficiency used across all industries), △food problem (food safety services that support safe food from production to consumption), and △disease infection prevention (solutions to prevent human diseases such as COVID-19).

In particular, Korea Ecolab provides water and energy-saving solutions to customers who use a lot of water resources, such as domestic oil refineries and petrochemical plants, power plants and steel mills, semiconductor and display plants. In Korea, there are two plants in Yangsan, Gyeongnam and Ansan, Gyeonggi, which account for 80% of the total.

In addition, it acquires a lot of data through water treatment sensors and analyzes it with AI to provide useful information to customers, and also supports SW for monitoring and self-diagnosis to customers.

CEO Ryu said, “Ecolab Korea helps reduce energy usage by increasing water treatment efficiency throughout the entire process of industrial water treatment, ultimately helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

Executive Director Sungman Choi unveiled the 'Ecolab Science Certified' program, an integrated solution program for environmental safety, hygiene, and food safety in various public places.

After systematic education and training from product application, regular on-site audits and inspections, and passing the standards for environmental safety, hygiene, and food safety, the 'Ecolab Science Certified' certification mark is granted. There is no credibility.

In addition, the concept of 'eROI (exponential Return On Investment)', an ESG performance measurement system, was presented. By providing all customers with the results produced through eROI in numerical form, customers can quantitatively understand the return on investment, thereby continuously tracking, managing, and improving related data.

Ecolab Korea said, “We will be able to provide long-term help to customers by addressing the environmental aspect of the main supply chain itself with the know-how and technology accumulated over the past 100 years.”

Meanwhile, Ecolab, founded in 1923, is headquartered in Minnesota and has 3 million customers in 170 countries. Among them, Ecolab Korea has about 10,000 domestic customers and supports sustainable management practices for customers across all industries.

Ecolab's major customers include Manchester United, Apple, McDonald's, Pepsi, Starbucks, and factories such as steel mills and power plants.
