“Achieving Innovation in Digital Manufacturing Process Based on 3D Scanner”
New 3D MAX series supports large part measurement Creaform introduces portable, high-precision 3D measurement solutions and real-world application cases to achieve digital manufacturing innovation.
Creaform successfully held 'Creaform Connect Korea 2024' on February 22nd with the theme of 'Current State and Future of Digital Manufacturing Innovation'. The webinar on that day covered the latest trends in measurement, new Creaform 3D scanner products, and application cases of 3D scanner technology in various industries.
The event began with Creaform CEO Kim Geon-ah introducing Creaform’s business strategy for 2024 and new products. The following sessions were held: △Comparison and prescription of 3D scanner solutions by application (Design Folder CEO Kim Dong-jin), △Improving Utilization (ISSOFT Deputy Manager Park Sang-hyun), △Latest AQC trends and Case Study (Creaform Vice President Lee Won-hyung and Manager Jeon Jeong-hwan), △Ergonomics-based VR headset reverse engineering case (Zeon3D CEO Park Si-mon), △Quality Never Stops (Creaform Headquarters Manager Kim Geon-ah).
“Creaform will strive to provide reasonable solutions to customers in limited environments where they really need them,” said Kim Geon-ah, CEO of Creaform, revealing Creaform’s ambitions by saying, “The most important goal this year is efficiency.”
Recently, manufacturing sites in various industries such as electric vehicles, aviation, space, and defense are faced with the task of achieving operational process and process innovation while lowering manufacturing costs. However, many factories are having difficulty achieving digital transformation due to reasons such as aging, population shortage, and outsourcing issues.
In the measurement field, it is expected that 3D data collection through cost improvement will secure competitiveness in order to achieve manufacturing automation innovation. Existing contact scanners are being developed in the fields of quality control and dimensional measurement, and recently, they have been expanded into reverse engineering and VR/AR areas.
Creaform is releasing a portable 3D scanner with convenience in line with the rapidly changing 3D measurement trend. If you measure various shapes using a 3D measuring device, a scanner, instead of the parts that were measured using a conventional 1D measuring device or various manual devices, you can measure various shapes that were not possible before. Additionally, by analyzing the data collected through inspection software, many aspects of the process or defects can be improved.
Creaform said, “Large or heavy products were difficult to measure using conventional methods because they could not be moved. However, as the importance of quality control for products increases, we have launched a portable measuring device that enables on-site measurement.”

Creaform has introduced the latest addition to its HandySCAN 3DTM lineup, the HANDYSCAN 3D MAX series. The MAX series was launched for measuring large objects over 2m. It provides a wide 3D scanning area of 1m x 1m, enabling fast and accurate 3D measurements of all types of large and complex surfaces. For example, it can easily scan snowmobiles measuring around 3m to vans measuring over 6m.
In addition, the MAX series is a high-precision scanner with an accuracy of 75μm, i.e. a spatial accuracy of 0.100mm + 0.015mm/m, certified according to ISO 17025 and verified according to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 standards, and provides all test information transparently.
The MAX series has been greatly improved in convenience, speed, resolution, and versatility. It has the same ergonomically designed handle as the Black series, which enhances stability and is designed so that its 1.2 kg weight is not felt. You can intuitively check the appropriate distance between the product and the scanner, and users can operate various functions with one button. It also supports automatic real-time calibration.
The Creaform MAX series can efficiently increase the resolution by distance according to the actual size or shape. It scans with excellent quality at short focal distances and supports ultra-high-speed measurement even at long focal distances when measuring large parts. There is △Near mode (measurement area 0.2m x 0.3m), △Standard mode (measurement area 1m x 1m), and △Far mode (measurement area 2m x 2.4m). Each mode can be applied differently according to the detailed part, high-resolution part, and wide part of the shape with a size of 1 to 10m.
