IC Verification Solution Veloce CS 3 Types Launched
Built on CrystalX and AMD VP1902 FPGA
Modular blade configuration for modern data centers
Siemens EDA has launched the hardware-based certification and verification system, ‘Veloce CS Solution.’ Veloce CS is expected to reduce the development and verification time and cost of semiconductor IP and SoC by executing full system workloads with excellent visibility and consistency.
Siemens Digital Industries Software, the Siemens EDA (Electronic Design Automation) business, launched Veloce™ CS on the 25th and held a press conference to introduce three solutions and key customer partnerships.
Siemens' recently launched Veloce™ CS solution includes three products: Veloce Strato CS hardware for emulation, Veloce Primo CS hardware for enterprise prototyping, and Veloce proFPGA CS hardware for software prototyping.
It is built on two advanced integrated circuits (ICs): Siemens’ new CrystalX crystal accelerator chip, built specifically for emulation, and AMD’s latest Versal Premium VP1902 FPGA for enterprise and software prototyping.
Companies are now focusing on tool selection for developing and verifying commercial SoCs (systems on chips) that meet power and performance requirements within a given budget. Especially with the rise of software-defined architectures and products, and software becoming more important to determine hardware architectures, the need for selecting the right SW tools that provide modularity, granularity, and speed for IP and SoC verification is being emphasized.
The Veloce CS system from Siemens EDA supports designs from 40 million gates up to 40 billion gates. Veloce CS software is reusable across all platforms, eliminating the need for relearning, significantly reducing project completion times and reducing the cost per verification cycle.
The 'Veloce Strato CS' is an emulation system that improves emulation performance by up to 5 times compared to existing systems. It supports fast compiling and debugging based on its own accelerator chip, CrystalX. The 'Veloce Primo CS', based on the adaptive SoC, AMD VP1902 FPGA, is an enterprise prototyping system that can be expanded from 40MG to 40+BG like the Strato.
Both the Veloce Strato CS and Veloce Primo CS solutions run on the same operating system, giving you the freedom to move seamlessly between platforms. This dramatically accelerates ramp up, setup time, debug, and workload execution.
The 'Veloce proFPGA CS' for SW prototyping is based on the AMD VP1902 FPGA and can scale from one FPGA to hundreds. This, along with its flexible modular design, allows customers to dramatically accelerate firmware, operating system, application development and system integration efforts.
“Unlike other vendors that cannot provide all three solutions, Siemens EDA is the first in the industry to offer a high-speed, modular, hardware-based verification system that aligns all three systems,” said Siemens EDA. “This helps increase profitability by accelerating the entire verification process by up to 10 times and reducing the total cost by up to 5 times.”
The entire Veloce CS system is available in a modular blade configuration that meets modern data center requirements for easy installation, low power, superior cooling, and a compact footprint. The modular, scalable interconnect blade footprint eliminates fixed-size chassis, providing hardware-based verification tools for designs of all sizes, from small to very large. The Veloce proFPGA CS solution also offers a desktop lab version, providing additional user flexibility. The Veloce CS is certified to run with the latest AMD EPYC™ CPU-based HP DL385g11 server.
“We have been working closely with Siemens to integrate AMD’s Versal Premium VP1902 device at the core of the Veloce Primo CS and Veloce proFPGA CS systems to drive performance and scalability, and have certified the AMD EPYC CPU-based HP DL385 gen11 server for use across the entire Veloce CS system,” said Alex Starr, Corporate Fellow at AMD, a key Siemens partner. “The Veloce CS system demonstrates how Siemens is responding to customer needs and is evidence of the innovation taking place within the Veloce Group,” he said.
“Time to market is critical across the entire Arm partner ecosystem, underscoring the need for tools that deliver modularity, granularity and speed for IP and SoC verification,” said Tran Nguyen, senior director of Design Services at Key Customer Arm. “Siemens’ Veloce platform has become an integral part of our development process, and we continue to see the benefits of the new Veloce Strato CS system for hardware design acceleration and software development.”
The Veloce Strato CS system is currently available to select partner customers. General availability for all three hardware platforms is scheduled for summer 2024. The Veloce CS system will be available with cloud support.
