2023 HL Mando & HL Clemove Autonomous Driving Competition Completed… Autonomous Driving License Application Concept
Presentation of the possibility of applying autonomous vehicle operation capability evaluation verification of autonomous vehicle simulation technology

An autonomous driving mobility competition was held at a virtual driver's license test center based on a digital twin built by Morai, confirming the possibility that autonomous driving simulation technology can be applied to verifying autonomous vehicle driving capabilities.

Morai announced on the 15th that it sponsored the aMAP Stride Championship, a digital twin-based virtual environment simulation competition among the 2023 HL Mando & HL Clemov Autonomous Mobility Competition, and successfully completed it in cooperation with the Road Traffic Authority.

This competition, hosted by HL Mando, HL Clemub, and Halla University, was designed to foster future mobility talent through exchanges between universities in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution and to discover future mobility personnel equipped with research and development capabilities by utilizing the knowledge, technology, and infrastructure possessed by autonomous driving-related companies.

The aMAP Stride Championship, which was overseen by Morai as a competition, was an autonomous mobility competition that utilized a driver's license evaluation method, and was held under the concept of autonomous vehicles taking a driver's license test.

The participating teams had their autonomous vehicles perform the same missions that drivers perform in actual driver's license tests, such as starting from a virtual driver's license test center, following lanes and speed limits, stopping on slopes, starting, right-angle courses, intersections, S-shaped courses, T-shaped parking, high-speed driving, and unexpected situations.

Through these missions, we provided the autonomous vehicle's algorithm with a variety of situations similar to actual driving environments, allowing the vehicle to perform missions like a human driver and evaluate its ability to respond to actual road situations at each stage of perception, judgment, and control.

At this year's aMAP Stride Championship, the Kookmin University FOSCAR team won the grand prize with the best performance.

In addition, Kookmin University The KUUVe team won the grand prize, the Keimyung University BISA team won the excellence award, the Konkuk University Nalsdals team won the encouragement award, and the Kookmin University FOSCAR team won the special award.

CEO Jeong Ji-won of Morai said, “Just as you need a certified driver’s license to drive, autonomous vehicles need to have their driving skills verified in order to operate. Against this backdrop, we implemented an actual driver’s license as a digital twin and conducted the mission with the concept of an autonomous vehicle taking the driver’s license test.” He added, “I believe that this competition will be an opportunity to confirm the possibilities that autonomous driving simulation offers in the process of preparing to evaluate the driving skills of autonomous vehicles.”
