Improving CAN FD Performance with CAN Signal Enhancement Technology
NXP Semiconductors has improved CAN FD performance with CAN signal enhancement technology.
NXP announced today that it has successfully integrated its TJA146x CAN Signal Enhancement Function (CAN SIC) transceiver into China’s Changan Automobile’s latest vehicle platform.
NXP’s CAN SIC technology enables CAN FD networks to operate in larger and more complex networks and actively improves CAN signals to increase data transmission speeds.
It also enables CAN FD to extend its performance and flexibility as a cost-effective networking technology to address next-generation automotive challenges.
Changan Automotive is NXP’s first automotive customer to integrate NXP’s CAN SIC technology into its production.
He Wen, Deputy Director of ChangAn Automobile Intelligence Research Institute, said, “ChangAn Automobile and NXP’s in-vehicle networking teams have been working together from the beginning to implement CAN SIC in the ADAS system of ChangAn Automobile’s latest UNI-K model. Solving interference caused by ringing was the biggest challenge. Through repeated simulations, tests and verifications, CAN SIC technology has proven to be the most effective way to solve the ringing issue. “The TJA146x CAN SIC transceiver provides greater flexibility in wiring harness layout and paves the way for future upgrades to higher speeds, such as 5 Mbps. This significantly improves communication quality and engineering efficiency from an overall project perspective,” he said.
