Mouser Electronics, a global top 10 distributor, sends greetings on its 60th anniversary.

Mouser Electronics, a global authorized distributor, announced today that it is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Starting with two or three employees in a garage in El Cajon, California, Mouser has grown into a multi-billion dollar global top 10 distributor with 28 offices and over 4,000 employees worldwide.

Mouser is constantly working to provide its customers with the latest technologies as quickly as possible.

Mouser works closely with over 1,200 manufacturers to provide the fastest, easiest access to the industry’s newest components. Since early 2020, Mouser has added over 310 new manufacturer partners to its lineup. Last year, we added 64 new manufacturers and supplied more than 66,000 types of the latest parts.

“Mouser’s success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, who have strived to provide the best possible service,” said Glenn Smith, who joined the company in 1973 and currently serves as President and CEO of Mouser Electronics.

“I would like to congratulate all of our current and former employees on our 60th anniversary,” said Glenn Smith. “Without their outstanding teamwork, Mouser would not be what it is today. Our employees are the foundation that has supported Mouser for so long. Every single individual has played a vital role in the company’s success. Together, we have achieved tremendous results and will continue to do so.”

Smith also added, “I always tell my employees that only ‘customer satisfaction’ can create profits. A big part of Mouser’s success story is our customers and manufacturing partners. We are grateful for their support and partnership over the decades.”

In 1973, Glenn Smith, then a junior in college, had seen a lot of change since he started working as a part-time employee at Mouser's distribution center, then just an electronics startup, near San Diego. At the time, Mouser had only 12 full-time employees, including Smith.

Over the next 50 years, Smith helped grow that small company into a top 10 global components distributor, serving more than 650,000 customers and distributing the latest semiconductor and electronic components from more than 1,200 manufacturing partners.

In 1986, the company expanded its distribution capabilities by moving operations from California to near the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Texas. In 2000, Mouser was acquired by Fort Worth-based TTI, Inc., and Smith was promoted to president and CEO in 2004. Mouser and TTI were acquired by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. in 2007.

Today, Mouser's central hub is Mansfield, Texas, where the company's global headquarters and distribution center are located on a 100-acre campus, and the company operates 28 offices worldwide.

Meanwhile, over the past several decades, Mouser has received numerous awards for its innovation and leadership, as well as its commitment to the industry, community, and marketing. In 2012, it received the Employer of Excellence Award, and in 2019, it was named the Top Public Company CEO.

Additionally, Mouser has received the 2014 Large Business of the Year Award and the 2021 Best Places to Work Award. In 2022, we received over 30 awards for distribution excellence from our manufacturer partners.
