Compatible with standard 4-ball WLCSP (Wafer Level Chip Scale Package) footprint ST has introduced four new devices in its M24 serial EEPROM family. Fully compatible with the standard 4-ball WLCSP (Wafer Level Chip Scale Package) footprint, these new devices allow, for the first time, two or more 4-pin EEPROMs to be connected to the same I2C bus with individual I2C addresses hardwired inside the device. This allows dedicated devices for different purposes, such as front and rear cameras, to be used on the same bus.
This new product offers the same pitch, die orientation, and pin assignment as the competitive product, and is also suitable for customers who require multi-sourcing by providing a choice of I2C slave addresses. This M24 serial EEPROM maintains the outstanding performance of the existing device, including 4 million erase/write cycles and 200 years of data retention.
According to independent market research firm IHS, ST has maintained its position as the world's number one EEPROM supplier for the past decade, with a market share of more than 25 percent. Like all ST EEPROM products, the M24 family benefits from ST’s rigorous ‘automotive grade’ approach to robustness, quality, and product longevity.
