Capable of responding to the development of high-level safety ‘ASIL-D’ devices
“We will contribute to a society of safe, eco-friendly automobiles.”

ROHM has received development process certification for the automotive functional safety standard 'ISO 26262' from third-party certification body TUV Rheinland. This confirms that ROHM's automotive device development process can support the high level of safety 'ASIL-D'.

'ISO 26262' was established in 2011 as an international standard for functional safety, an industry standard, amid increasing demands for safety performance in automobiles in the global market.

Recently, as technological innovations represented by ADAS are accelerating, safety at the semiconductor level that constitutes vehicle components is required to ensure the safety of automobiles.
'ISO 26262' In terms of functional safety of automobiles, the demand at the device level has been increasing recently. And it is a certification standard required to realize technological innovation related to autonomous driving. In the second edition scheduled for publication, in addition to expansion to buses, trucks, and two-wheeled vehicles, the semiconductor part has been added, focusing on semiconductor devices that are the center of functional safety supporting autonomous driving. As a semiconductor manufacturer, ROHM has obtained process certification for 'ISO 26262'. It is also significant for semiconductor device customers because it has been recognized that a stable supply of functionally safe products is possible through a product development process that supports 'ASIL-D'.

Since its founding, ROHM has adopted a “vertical integration” system that consistently implements everything from development to manufacturing within the group based on the corporate purpose of “quality first,” thereby realizing high quality throughout all processes and promoting reliable history management and optimization of the supply chain.

In the automotive parts sector, we have also established a dedicated line for automotive equipment and have developed products that comply with the quality management system 'IATF 16949' and the reliability standards for electronic components 'AEC-Q100 ? 101 ? 200'.

Going forward, we will sequentially apply the development process compliant with 'ISO 26262' to products such as power ICs and timing controller ICs that require functional safety.

Based on this acquisition of ISO 26262 development process certification, ROHM will strive to manufacture safer products and contribute to a safe and environmentally friendly automobile society through its products.
