DX specialist LG CNS is embarking on building the largest data center in Korea.

LS CNS announced on the 29th that it had recently won the 'Yongin Jukjeon Data Center' project commissioned by Pacific Asset Management.

LG CNS will be in charge of everything from data center consulting to infrastructure construction and operation, and after completing the construction of the data center, it plans to provide optimal cloud integration services to customers based on its ‘The New MSP’ capabilities.

The Jukjeon Data Center is the largest data center in Korea, with a total area of 99,070㎡ on four floors above ground and four floors underground. This is about 14 times the size of a soccer field, and its power supply capacity is 100 megawatts (MA). One megawatt is the amount of power that can simultaneously light 10,000 100-watt (W) incandescent bulbs.

The Jukjeon Data Center is characterized by a large single floor area, and can accommodate approximately 1,000 racks on a single floor area. To achieve this, a special construction design method is applied to minimize building columns. With a large single floor area, customers can place equipment as they wish, enabling customized colocation, and can respond immediately even if IT equipment is rapidly expanded in the future.

LG CNS handles everything from consulting on the Jukjeon Data Center to infrastructure construction and operation, and designs and manages all areas of the data center, including electrical facilities, air conditioning, security, and emergency response systems.

LG CNS is building its Jukjeon data center into a network-neutral environment. Resident customers are not limited to a specific telecommunications company and can freely choose their communication lines. They can move their existing telecommunications network without changing it, or they can choose the optimal telecommunications network and configure it anew.

LG CNS plans to build an eco-friendly data center that maximizes energy efficiency and will apply an air conditioning system that automatically controls the operation mode of the refrigeration system according to the outside temperature and humidity conditions to minimize unnecessary power waste.

The Jukjeon Data Center is scheduled to be completed in 2024, and construction will be handled by Hyundai Engineering & Construction. As it is geographically adjacent to Pangyo, it is expected to be utilized highly as a data center for Pangyo IT companies.
