Industrial IoT API Easy access and rapid application development possible

Siemens announced that the latest version of its open IoT operating system, MindSphere, is now running for the first time on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The collaboration with Amazon Web Services enables Siemens to develop applications more quickly with partners, leveraging the millions of Siemens devices already installed worldwide, and to deliver more efficient digital services through Amazon Web Services.

Additionally, the new MindSphere hosted on Amazon Web Services will enable customers in a variety of industries, including aerospace/defense/energy/utilities, to develop powerful industrial IoT solutions in a shorter period of time.

MindSphere is an open IoT operating system that builds on Siemens’ long-standing experience, offering a wide range of connection protocol options for devices and enterprise applications, industrial applications, advanced analytics solutions, and an innovative development environment that leverages Siemens’ open PaaS (Platform as a Service) capabilities and access to the Amazon Web Services cloud.

Based on these capabilities, we provide solutions that can drive innovation in the manufacturing industry by optimizing simulations in the virtual world and engineering processes in the real world by utilizing actual operational data. MindSphere enables businesses of all sizes and industries to transform into digital enterprises.

“Siemens chose to collaborate with Amazon Web Services to meet the needs of our customers looking for high availability and robust global service,” said Steve Bashada, vice president, Siemens Cloud Application Services. “Partners and customers will now have easy access to Siemens’ best-in-class Industrial IoT APIs, while also enabling more rapid application development.”
