Over the weekend, LG U+ Internet network experienced a connection failure, causing inconvenience to users.

According to the telecommunications industry, between 2 a.m. and 6 p.m. yesterday, users experienced a loss of wired Internet and Wi-Fi access for approximately 22 minutes.

LG U+ suspects that the connection failure was caused by a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on its internal servers.

DDoS is a type of hacking that involves remotely controlling a large number of PCs to simultaneously access a specific site, thereby causing an overload in a short period of time.

LG Uplus said, "The outage occurred due to the influx of large amounts of data, presumed to be a DDoS attack," and reported it to the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).

There has been a lot of complaints from users who have experienced delays due to communication failures.

A situation arose where payment could not be processed at a large mart, and a citizen who was watching TV at home expressed bewilderment, saying he thought it was a router problem.

Person A, who visited a PC room in Seodaemun-gu that uses LG Internet, said, "I went to the PC room with a friend to play a game, but the computers didn't work, so everyone inside had to leave."

Meanwhile, LG U+ recognized on January 10 that the personal information of approximately 180,000 users had been leaked, and announced the information on its website and notified each user individually via text message and email.

The leaked personal information varies, but it includes name, date of birth, and phone number, and does not include financial information related to payment.
