SKT Takes Care of the Safety of 2G Phone Customers Who Cannot Receive Disaster Text Messages

2G Phone Replacement Support Campaign Conducted at Government Request
The target customers can replace 6 types of LTE phones at 0 won, and the rate level is maintained.


SK Telecom is conducting a campaign to support replacement of mobile phones for 590,000 2G phone customers who cannot receive disaster text messages from the government. This is in response to the government's request to improve national safety, and will initially be implemented for 6 months. The period may be extended if necessary.

SK Telecom will provide additional support funds to customers with 2G phones that are unable to receive disaster text messages when they replace them with one of the six LTE phones targeted by the campaign, and will allow them to purchase the LTE phones at a device price of 0 won. The six LTE phones were selected as products with similar form and function, considering that the phones mainly used by 2G phone customers are flip phones and feature phones.

In addition, SK Telecom has exceptionally allowed customers with 2G phones that cannot receive disaster text messages to subscribe to 7 types of 2G plans when they change to LTE phones, allowing them to use the plan at the same rate as before. After subscribing, customers can continue to use the plan unless they change it. Considering that there is no basic data allowance for 2G plans, a data blocking function is also applied as a basic feature to prevent unwanted data charges. Customers who want to use data can disable the data blocking function or subscribe to an LTE plan.



For the convenience of customers replacing their mobile phones, the '01X (011, 017, etc.) number display service' is also provided free of charge for three years. If you use this service, your existing '01X' number will be displayed on the other person's mobile phone when you make a call or send a text message even after changing to a '010' number. You can also receive calls and text messages with your '01X' number. Customers who wish to use the '01X Number Display Service' can apply through SK Telecom's customer center, branch, or agency.

2G phone customers who wish to receive support for replacing their phones can visit a nearby T World store or apply through SK Telecom's official online mall 'T World Direct' or SK Planet's open market '11th Street'. When applying for replacement online, 'T Gift', which has been newly organized with items such as red ginseng, massagers, and health supplements, will also be provided, considering the tastes of 2G phone customers.

For customers who have difficulty visiting stores or ordering online, we provide a 'mobile activation service'. This is a service where a mobile phone replacement service is provided by a mobile activation specialist who visits the customer in person. Customers who wish to use the 'mobile activation service' can apply through the SK Telecom customer center or 'T World Direct'.

SK Telecom will inform all 2G phone customers who cannot receive disaster text messages about the LTE phone replacement support campaign via text message.
