Establishment of Korean branch, strengthening security solutions beyond CDN
Customers ↑10x…Securing new solutions and partners
Cloudflare establishes a branch in Korea, expands its zero-trust solutions, and expands its domestic market across all Internet sectors.
Cloudflare announced the establishment of a Seoul branch office at a press conference held at COEX on the 7th, and stated that it aims to secure domestic customers and strengthen brand awareness. At the event, the appointment of Kim Do-gyun, the first Cloudflare Korean branch manager, was announced.
Cloudflare CEO Kim Do-gyun said, “Cloudflare is a CDN (content delivery network) service provider, but CDN is only one small part. Through active domestic marketing, Cloudflare will leap forward as a business partner in all areas of the Internet based on fast and safe Internet services.”
Founded in 2010, Cloudflare is a CDN, DNS, and DDoS security solution provider with data centers in 285 cities around the world. It provides services to various industries including games, SaaS, e-commerce, media, and public sectors, and is famous for providing the fastest DNS service.
CloudFlare, which handles 20% of global traffic, recently achieved a record of mitigating 71 million DDoS attacks per second to maintain security.
On this day, Cloudflare said it is focusing on five solutions: △safe hybrid work, △improving application performance, △protecting customer-facing applications, △protecting the network, and △building applications on the Cloudflare network. He added that the reason why solutions in each field are needed is due to the digitalization of our daily lives and the global change in values.
Cloudflare claims that it sees the current situation as an opportunity to create a new business model to break the instability faced by businesses and provide a fast and secure Internet.
“Over the past five years, cyberattacks such as ransomware have expanded and diversified,” said Jen Taylor, SVP and Chief Product Officer. “With Cloudflare’s massive-scale architecture, we will help customers protect their internet applications, users, and networks, and build and accelerate their applications.”
▲Cloudflare Conference Kim Do-gyun, head of Cloudflare Korea, explained the Korean internet and security trends and said, “In the future, Cloudflare will increase new customers tenfold to strengthen its enterprise business and expand domestic partnerships, including with Megazone Cloud, with which we are currently partnering.”
Cloudflare highly evaluated the potential of the Korean market. “The domestic market can already be seen as a red ocean, but with the domestic cloud adoption rate at 20%, I think the current point in time when cloud adoption is spreading further may be the right time for CloudClaire to achieve innovation through active support,” he said.
In addition, CEO Kim emphasized the expansion of the 'zero trust solution' beyond CDN as a new paradigm solution. Cloudflare plans to continuously invest and increase its personnel nationwide by more than five times this year to increase its expertise in order to become the leader in the zero trust market.
Zero Trust is a security model that is gaining importance with the recent expansion of remote work, based on the strategy of ‘never trusting, always verifying.’
Vice President Jen Taylor said, “It is still unfamiliar, just like the early days of cloud business adoption, but I believe that the domestic adoption rate will increase through this new paradigm,” and announced plans to hire related experts.
He also said, “Korea can now be seen as at an inflection point in the zero trust revolution, as security solutions are increasingly emphasized in a time of gradual change to a hybrid work environment.”
Lastly, CEO Kim said, “Cloudflare will work with Korean government agencies and local governments to respond to regulations and eliminate difficulties in adoption,” and also expressed his will to establish his own community and practice ESG management.
Finally, on the topic of network usage fees, CloudFlare said, “We will work with network operators. We are learning from many partners,” adding, “We have had long-standing relationships with ISPs.”
