BAS Market Expected to Grow Rapidly… Active Investment in Cyber Security Technology and Human Resources
BAS, Simulating Real Attack Methods… Automating Organizational Security Assessment Information security specialist K-Sign announced that it has completed the development of a prototype of the BAS (Breach and Attack Simulation) platform, a technology that automates the security assessment of an organization by simulating attacks using the same methods used by actual attackers.
On the 27th, K-Sign announced the completion of the development of a prototype of a BAS platform based on the MITRE ATT&CK matrix specialized for the next-generation intelligent transportation system (C-ITS) environment.
K-Sign has been developing BAS (Breach and Attack Simulation) technology through research supported by the Institute of Information and Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation (IITP) with funding from the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2023. Customers can use these technologies to understand their organization's ability to respond to hacking attacks, including whether they would be able to defend against a real threat, how effective their security solutions are at operating, and which attacks can and cannot be prevented.
Enterprises and government agencies operate security solutions to combat threats from attackers, but it is important to perform security control validation to ensure that these solutions are working as intended.
K-Sign first applied digital twin technology to visualize the C-ITS infrastructure to be protected by building it in a virtual space, and then conducted an automatic attack simulation using artificial intelligence technology on the built system to proactively discover vulnerabilities and take measures to address them.
We are moving beyond the limitations of legacy security that focuses on identification and blocking to implement active security and focus on developing technologies that can further minimize human intervention.
Eoseong Yul, Managing Director of K-Sign, said, "C-ITS is a key national infrastructure that must fully consider security and safety as it includes element technologies from huge industrial fields such as networks, mobile, and transportation." He added, "In particular, as security threats increase in the autonomous driving field, a core service of 5G, it is urgent to establish an intelligent response system to this."
According to market research firm Markets and Markets, the global BAS market is expected to grow from USD 218.4 million in 2020 to USD 915.9 million in 2025, at a CAGR of 33.2%.
Accordingly, Choi Seung-rak, CEO of K-Sign, said, “We are developing technology to evaluate security and establish defense strategies through cyber attack simulation. He expressed his ambition, saying, “We will actively invest our organization and manpower to respond to the market.”
