Mouser Electronics is positive about the market next year and is expanding its customer support with a differentiated inventory strategy.

Mouser Electronics, a global electronic components distributor, held a press conference at the Intercontinental in Samseong-dong on the 26th and introduced Mouser's past achievements and global business strategy.

“What sets Mouser Electronics apart from our competitors is our ability to quickly deliver the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components in stock,” said Mark Ver-Ronon, SVP of Global Sales and Service at Mouser Electronics, who visited Korea to attend the Korea Electronics Show (KES 2023). “In particular, through collaboration with 1,200 manufacturers worldwide, 25% of our inventory is new products, providing a wide selection of new products.”

Additionally, “Mouser achieved total sales of $4 billion last year, growing 25%. “This year, the Asia Pacific region is expected to show a slight decline due to the effects of mass export restrictions, but it will return to growth in the latter half of 2024 based on customer acquisition performance based on marketing strategies,” he said, making a positive outlook. Mouser’s OEM sales decreased by 1%, but individual account buyers showed a 26% growth.

“Despite the slow growth rate, the number of customers continues to increase,” Mouser said. “We have recovered very quickly from the declines in sales that coincided with the semiconductor industry downturn of the past 30 years, so we expect a quick recovery next year as well.”

Mouser's strength lies in its efficient inventory strategy, which involves keeping a large variety of inventory. Mouser's products are 100% authentic and can be verified by the manufacturer, and it has over 6.8 million products, and the number of parts in stock has increased by 14% year-on-year to 1.08 million as of the first half of this year.

The “large inventory” offered by Mouser means high flexibility. For example, Mouser, which supports all global customers from a single warehouse in the United States, efficiently moves and distributes inventory based on the sales ratio in each country. The focus is on a wide range of inventory options rather than mass production methods. From the perspective of an engineer facing a new product design, Mouser can purchase various components all at once, saving product development time.

To accommodate growing order volumes, Mouser is targeting an additional 600,000 square feet of warehouse space in Texas in the first half of 2024. We plan to increase the amount of semiconductor and component inventory secured and expand our global logistics warehouse for faster and more efficient inventory management and shipment. We will also significantly expand our state-of-the-art automated facilities.

The state-of-the-art facility, which includes 138 vertical lift modules with filing cabinet structures up to 10 meters high and 119 advanced transport robots for warehouse automation, will add 20 shipping lines to increase shipments by 200%. Vice President Mark Bur-Ronon said, “With the expansion of this facility, we expect to be able to increase orders processed per hour from about 5,000 to 15,000.”

Along with this, Mouser also emphasizes marketing to provide new products to engineers. Mouser has joined hands with 1,200 manufacturers and an additional 230 companies in the embedded solutions sector over the past three years, focusing on distributing new products as quickly as possible.

“We are a marketing company that sells components, so we value marketing,” said Daphne Tien, VP of marketing and business development for Mouser APAC. “We have the strength to work with manufacturers to quickly introduce new products to the right target audience and actively support their purchase.” This allows new products to be released on Mouser's website in just one week.

We are also strengthening our strategy to increase the frequency of customer visits by sharing various information such as product data sheets, application notes, engineering tools and information, and a technical resource center based on our online website for engineers.

“We are focusing on having the products that engineers actually want in stock, and doing our best to make it more convenient for Korean customers to use the Mouser site,” said Vice President Depney. Mouser’s website receives 500,000 visitors a day.
