LG Electronics is accelerating its conquest of the premium refrigerator market by introducing the new '2018 Dios French Door Refrigerator' product with significantly enhanced freshness function and upgraded functions preferred by customers.

LG Electronics' 2018 Dios French-door refrigerator new products include a total of 17 models, including three artificial intelligence-equipped ice and water purifier refrigerators, with capacities ranging from 804 liters (ℓ) to 821 liters. The new products are the first French-door refrigerators to feature LG's unique freshness-keeping functions, 'Auto Temperature' and 'Door Cooling+'.

Upgraded performance with a large number of differentiated fresh features

The 'auto-temperature control' applied by LG Electronics to its new product finely controls the amount of cold air supplied to always keep the temperature inside the refrigerator within ±0.5 degrees (°C). Since cold air tends to go down and warm air tends to go up, maintaining a constant temperature inside the refrigerator is considered a key performance feature of the refrigerator.

According to LG Electronics' own test results, food stored in a new product equipped with an automatic temperature control system for 7 days retained up to 20% more moisture inside the food compared to existing products.

‘Door Cooling+’ is a function applied to the ‘LG SIGNATURE refrigerator.’ The separate cold air hole at the top of the refrigerator sends cold air directly to the food stored in the door area, cooling the food more quickly. Existing products cooled the food indirectly by circulating the cold air coming from the inner wall instead of sending the cold air to the door area.

According to LG Electronics' own test results, the new product equipped with 'Door Cooling+' can cool food in the door area up to 20% faster than before.

The Fresh Storage Vegetable Room+ is a space specialized for storing vegetables and fruits, which require special moisture retention, with internal drawers designed to maintain the moisture of food ingredients for a long time. Customers can store food while maintaining the optimal humidity through a moisture controller depending on the type of food being stored.

LG Electronics narrowed the gap in the fresh storage vegetable compartment+ to 1/7 of that of existing products to prevent moisture from leaking out. According to LG Electronics' own test results, the fresh storage vegetable compartment+ with a new sealed structure has moisture retention capacity that is up to 15% higher than before.

LG Electronics also increased the capacity of the vegetable compartment to up to 8.2 liters, allowing customers to store larger amounts of food for longer periods of time.

Differentiated performance with inverter linear compressor

The reason LG Electronics can implement such differentiated functions in its refrigerators is thanks to the ‘inverter linear compressor,’ which is a core component of LG refrigerators and has become the standard for premium refrigerators.

Linear compressors, in which the motor moves in a 'straight' direction instead of 'rotating', have less energy loss in the process of transmitting power, and are 18% more efficient than general inverter compressors. They also have a simpler component structure, making them more durable. In addition, they are evaluated as a core component that is one generation ahead because they apply inverter technology that freely implements the speed of the motor, allowing for more precise control.

LG Electronics has been the first in the industry to apply inverter linear compressors to all refrigerator models since last year. It also provides a 10-year free warranty based on its technological prowess for core components.

The three new products (model names: J811NS35, J811S35, J811S35N) analyze and learn in real time the customer's refrigerator usage patterns, the temperature and humidity of the location where the product is installed, and operate in an optimized manner.

This product analyzes the number of times and times the door is opened and automatically operates in power-saving mode during times when the user rarely opens the door. Also, in midsummer when the temperature and humidity are high, the sterilization function is set to the highest level, 'power mode', to prevent food from spoiling easily, and when hot food is placed directly into the refrigerator, it detects the change in internal temperature and cools it intensively on its own.
