Added new features such as built- in maps and music storage and playback functions

Garmin has released a new product in its flagship GPS multisport smartwatch series, the 'Phoenix' series, the 'Phoenix 5 Plus' series.

The 'Phoenix 5 Plus' series consists of three models: 'Phoenix 5 Plus', 'Phoenix 5S Plus', and 'Phoenix 5X Plus', expanding the range of choices for users depending on their intended use and desired size. In addition, all models use sapphire glass for excellent scratch resistance, and the ADLC (Amorphous Diamond Like Carbon) coating technology, previously only used by luxury watch brands, makes them resistant to shock and corrosion.

All three models have built-in maps that support route guidance, and have added the ability to store and play up to 500 songs. They are also the first smartwatches to feature wrist heart rate and body efficiency index measurement (applied to the Fenix 5X Plus). The 1.2-inch color display (equipped with the Fenix 5S Plus) that is highly readable even under sunlight is 20% larger than previous products, allowing you to enjoy various functions more conveniently.

Built-in maps can be used for navigation and location tracking during outdoor sports activities such as cycling, running, and mountain trekking. It also has multi-network satellite reception including GLONASS and Galileo to provide more accurate location information than using GPS alone in more challenging environments. This function is especially useful when adventuring in places where the sky is not clearly visible, such as deep canyons or urban environments. Posture and performance data measurement allows for posture correction and improvement of efficient training methods, and also allows monitoring of current physical condition according to training volume.

All three models feature LED backlighting and a high-resolution, full-color Garmin Chroma Display™ for excellent readability even in sunlight, and are water-resistant to 100 meters. The féinix 5S Plus can last up to seven days in smartwatch mode, or up to four hours in GPS and music modes, while the féinix 5 Plus S can last up to 10 days in smartwatch mode, or up to eight hours in GPS and music modes. The battery life of the Fenix 5X Plus is also good, with up to 20 days in smartwatch mode and up to 13 hours in GPS and music mode. It can be used even longer with UltraTrac™ power-saving mode.

The smart alarm function allows you to receive calls, texts, and emails instantly, and you can personalize your watch with Garmin’s unique QuickFit band. QuickFit bands can be replaced without any separate tools, and come in a variety of styles, including black, white, spark orange, and beige leather bands, increasing their usability as a fashion item. More types and colors of bands will be added in the future.

It has the durability and sturdiness to perform optimally in various environments such as extreme sports, and the bezel can be selected between a PVD-coated stainless steel bezel version and a titanium bezel version. The Fenix 5 Plus series can be purchased at Garmin brand shops (DDP, Mangwon, Daejeon) and official dealers.

“We are pleased to launch the new products in the Fenix series, Garmin’s flagship smartwatch and best-selling series in Korea,” said Scoppen Lin, Garmin’s director of marketing for Asia. “The Fenix 5 Plus series, which includes a variety of features that Korean customers have been demanding, such as built-in maps and support for music storage and playback, is expected to further strengthen Garmin’s dominance in the domestic high-end smartwatch market.”
